As entrepreneurs, we can sometimes get overwhelmed with the influx of activities that we forget to appreciate our wins–whether small or big. I’ve decided that I do not want to be such an entrepreneur, so I made a mental note to celebrate every single win, irrespective of the magnitude and that is exactly what I’ll be doing here today.

Last week, I reached out to a picture frame vendor and we got talking. I told her about my wish to get a minimalistic frame with my brand’s logo and she was more than happy to make my wish come through. I have always pictured adding a frame with my brand’s logo to my product’s images and videos and it was finally time to make this picture come alive.

We discussed the price for the product and three days later, my package was ready for pickup. I wasn't able to pick up the package on that said date so I extended the pickup date to Monday, today, and the vendor was very cooperative.

After a very long day, I finally received the package and boy was I excited! I couldn’t fully unpack it at the pick-up location because first, it was drizzling and I didnt want to damage this frame in any way and second, I thought of making an authentic unpacking video.

I rushed home, set up my camera and hit record, eager to capture the moment when my dream finally came through. I like that provision was made for the hanging of this frame. Now, I just have to find the right spot to hang it. The little note that came with the package was also very sweet and evocative.

In the midst of the excitement, a wave of responsibility hit me, “Am I really doing this?” I've come too far to give up on my brand so the perfect response to that question would be a big yes! Yes, I'm doing this. Yes, I'm building a crochet brand from scratch and yes, I'm going to watch Thekanian brand grow and flourish, day by day.

This is a gentle reminder that as entrepreneurs, we need to celebrate our wins more often because this shows that we are making progress. Every accomplishment is a testament to our growth and forward motion
Let's not underestimate the power of celebrating our wins, no matter how minor they may seem.
I look forward to using it for my crochet product photography and videography. I'm also grateful to you for taking time to read my thoughts and musings. Prost!🍷

On the Hive blockchain, communities are more than just social groups; they are structured spaces where specific types of contents live and thrive. Each community acts as a themed-hub, allowing users to publish, curate and discover posts related to a particular topic or interest. Whether it's DIY tutorials,Comedy, photography, crypto analysis or creative writing, Hive communities help keep contents organised and easy to find for readers looking for something specific.

Hello and welcome to this tutorial post. Having been here for 35 full moons, I thought to give back to the blockchain by sharing a stepwise process on how to seamlessly create/own a community on Hive using Peakd. There are numerous ways to create a community on Hive but for the purpose of this tutorial, I will stick to the above mentioned frontend. For the representation of this post, I used mobile but the steps are basically the same on desktop.

This post covers:

How to create a community using Peakd.

How to Edit Community Settings using Peakd.

How to appoint an administrator for the community using Peakd.

How to appoint a moderator using Peakd.

Role Permissions of the Members in a Community.

Conclusion.

~ How To Create A Community Using Peakd on Mobile ~

Creating a community using the Peakd front is very easy and straightforward. Below are the steps to follow:

Step One

Open your Hive keychain app on your mobile device, input your pin and authenticate. If you do not already have Hive Keychain, check here for a mini tutorial on how to install it either for desktop or mobile.

Step Two

Once you're logged into the creator account (the account you wish to use in creating the community), tap on the browser icon and this redirects you to the browser.

Step Three

On the browser, input the URL "peakd.com" and this takes you directly to the 'my following' page of the creator account or a homepage.

Step Four

Click on the three horizontal lines at the top left corner of this page and a list of options will appear. Click on communities and this redirects you to another page.

Step Five

Click on the plus sign (+) on the top right corner of this page and another interface will pop up.

Step Six

This is the time to fill in important information about the community you want to create. This includes the community's title and a brief description. Here, the community owner account username (more on this later) and the community keys will be automatically generated. Copy this username and private keys and save them someplace very safe. DO NOT share your private keys with anyone. A backup is strongly recommended because if these keys are lost, then one loses access to the community.

Step Seven

After the 3 HIVES have been deducted from your wallet and the transaction has been successfully signed, you will be redirected to the community you just created. If you are not redirected, tap on the three horizontal lines at the top left corner, click on communities and your community should be the first community to appear there with you as an administrator.

Congratulations! You've successfully created a community.

But the task does not end here. You have to set up the community: insert an image that relates to the community as your profile and set up your team members.

~ How To Edit Community Settings using Peakd ~

To do this, click on "about" on the community's home page and you will be taken to a page where you can fill in all the information you want about your community.

This is where your community branding begins. You can fill in the description, community rules, insert images and basically edit every other thing. Remember to save the changes once you are done making them.

~ How to Appoint an Administrator for the Community using Peakd ~

In order to appoint an ADMIN, you must log into the creator account using the keys that were generated during the creation of the community. Simply put, log out of the creator account and log into the owner account using the username that begins with hive-00000.

This is because the creator account has limited access to the community's settings and can't appoint an ADMIN. The owner account on the flip side has express access and can make all major modifications.

Once you are logged into the owner account, navigate to the community's homepage. On the homepage, tap on "Actions···" and a list of possible actions will appear. Tap on "Roles and Titles" and this redirects you to another page.

On the next page, you can edit roles. Note, you can only assign roles to users who are subscribed to the community.

For ADMINS, tap on the plus sign (+) right beside the ADMIN role and this brings up an interface where you can type in the username of the individual you wish to assign this role to. Once the correct username has been inputted, save the change and the role is immediately updated.

~ How To Appoint A Moderator on Peakd ~

This pretty much follows the same pattern as appointing an ADMIN. Tap on the plus sign (+) right beside the moderator role and an interface will pop up. Type in the correct username of the individual you wish to assign the role of a moderator and save. The change is effected immediately.

~ Role Permissions Of The Members In A Community. ~

These role permissions apply to all communities irrespective of which frontend the community was created with.

Owner: assign ADMINS.

Administrators: assign moderators and edit settings.

Moderator: mute users, pin posts and set user titles.

Member: listed on the leadership team.

Guest: default role. They can create posts and engage with other users.

Muted:publications from these users are automatically muted.

Now, you've successfully created and customized your community, earning you the title of a community owner. Enjoy your milestone and get ready to grow and nurture your community.

~ Conclusion ~

A list of hiveans have been asked to write out detailed tutorials for a massive idea by @starkerz and his team. This post is my contribution to the idea. You can find more information about this idea and the tasks here. If you feel inclined to take up a task, reply to the post and offer to assist.

Upon completion, the posts will be compiled into a permanent, single collection. To avoid generating rewards from the same post twice, that account will be set to burn the earnings.

I am open to feedback and corrections. If you spot any errors or areas that need clarificaion, do tell. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

I would also like to say a big thank you to @ravenmus1c for creating the thumbnail for this post. She did an amazing job.

Hello Hello✨

In many parts of the world, bracelets are more than just mere decorative accessories. To some, it signifies status or wealth and to others it has some spiritual meaning to it.

I remember being told as a kid that a particular locally-made red beaded bracelet was worn only by royalty and as such, they signified status. Nonetheless, I have loved wearing bracelets and wrist watches for as long as I can remember and as such, making a customised one for myself didn't sound like such a bad idea.

This crochet bracelet is a really easy craft to make and the interesting fact is that the size of the bracelet can vary depending on the side of the crochet hook being used.

For my craft, I made use of the 4.5mm crochet hook. First off, I made a slip stitch before commencing the process of making a chain long enough to go round my wrist with no extra space. If extra space is kept, the bracelet would end up bigger than your wrist.

After this, I made an extra chain of six. This extra chain is to serve as the button hole. Making this button hole as the very first thing felt a bit off but it was the only way to prevent extra and unnecessary attachments at the end.

After making the button hole, I proceeded to make double crochet stitches into every chain till the very end. It is important to maintain precision and accuracy to prevent the bracelet from turning out too tight or too wonky.

After making a double crochet stitch into the last chain, I chained one, tightened my edges and went ahead to cut off the yarn. The band was pretty much done.

Before cutting off, I left enough yarn to enable me to attach the bottom.

With the extra yarn for attachment, I went ahead to attach the button. Since I was only tying and not crocheting the button in, I ensured I tied over and over again; just to be on the safe side.

After tying the button securely, I proceeded to cut off extra yarn. At this point, it is advisable to burn the ends very carefully to prevent the button from coming off if you're not sure if you tied it securely.

With that, I was done with my bracelet and I think it looks simple yet unique and lovely. On completion, a friend of mine came around and offered to model one of the bracelets for me. I readily agreed.

It is worthy to note that the initial measurement for the button hole totally depends on the type of button you want to use. If your buttons are smaller, then less than six extra chains should be made and vice versa.

This brings me to the end of the brief “how to” post. What do you think of bracelets? Which one is your favourite?

Hello Hello✨

For over a year now, I have had a pom pom tool and didn't even know it was such a priceless tool. I remember buying a crocheters kit a year ago and in this bag, I found a few strange looking tools. I asked a few crocheters that I knew at the time about the tools and they too didn't know what the tools were used for or what they were even called, so I decided to give it a rest.

Fast Forward to over a year later, I was surfing the net and came across the phrase “Pom Pom Tool”. I know that I have abstained from making pom poms manually because of how tasking it can be. Out of curiosity, I did further research on the tool and then it clicked; “I have this tool!”. I went rummaging and found it! Thank goodness I didn't do away with it.

Today, I would be sharing with you the process of making pom poms using just the pom pom maker and two other items. First off, I must say that this pom pom maker is an absolute game changer. It is easy to use, requires little to no form of skill and it also produces amazing results.

Tools Needed

Pom Pom tool

Spare yarn

A pair of scissors

Procedure.

The first thing I did was open two of the tools and place them side by side. Afterwards, I wrapped my yarn on one side of the tool. Here, I ensured that I covered up all the spaces to prevent the pom poms from coming out looking scanty.

After wrapping it on one side, I went ahead to repeat the same procedure on the second half of the pom pom tool, while still paying close attention to the hidden corners.

The next thing I did was to close up the pom pom tool and fasten it up tightly with the fastener attached at the edge of the tool.

With that, I started cutting off the wrapped yarn by the side in order to expose the center through which I was going to be attaching a long yarn.

Next, I cut out a long piece of yarn. The length of this yarn depends on what the poms poms are to be used for. If they would be attached to keys as a keyholder or used as wall decors, then do well to cut off a long enough piece.

With my long piece in position, I wrapped it round the pom pom tool right through the center, tied both ends together and tightened them. I repeated this process two more times to ensure that the poms were secure. At this point, I was a bit skeptical because tying it too loose could lead to me starting all over again.

After tying and tightening, I slowly unlocked the stopper and gently pulled off the pom pom tools. This whole process gave birth to a lovely but rough looking pom pom.

The final thing I did was trim off the rough edges and still go ahead to trim the pom pom in a circular direction to give a round pom pom.

With this, my pom pom was ready to be used. This took less than five minutes to make. Personally, I feel the pom pom maker tool is very efficient and stress free. It would work amazingly for someone who makes pom poms on a large scale or for a large project. Also, this tool has different sizes making it easier for artists to create poms poms of various sizes, shapes, colours and even designs.

What do you think of this pom pom tool? Would you like to own one? Personal manager @humbe, what do you think of the video:) ?

Hello Hello Pet Lovers✨

We can all agree that pets are a blessing to us irrespective of their minimal flaws. There is always something to learn from our pets.

For as long as I can remember, I have had cats at home. However, I always got male cats and after a year and a few months they would leave the house. I asked around to confirm if this act was natural and a few people told me that male cats always prefer to live in the wild irrespective of their upbringing.

Meet Buoy

I still do not know if this is just a superstition or it is actually true.

Meet Gyal

However, in 2022, I decided to do something different for a change. In years past, I always got one cat and the cat always turned out to be a male but two years ago I got two cats; male and female(Buoy and Gyal respectively).

Mini Gangsters:)
Wondering why I named them Buoy and Gyal? I did this because I had run out of names for cats.

Buoy and Gyal

I thought that one of the reasons why the male cats always turned wild was because they didn't have a companion so getting male and female cats just felt right.

Just like every other companion, Buoy and Gyal had their high and low moments. Gyal is a natural troubleshooter and Buoy is just a reserved cat who likes his peace of mind. I watched the two of them grow to love each other's company. They slept together, fought together, played together, ate together and stayed together for the better part.

Luckily I was always around to see these moments and capturing all these moments has been one of my favourite things to do. It is really beautiful to see them curdle, fight, argue and even pose for pictures.

One downside to having two cats who like each other's company is that your company may not be of use unless one of them is absent. So, unlike my previous experiences with single cats where I got to curdle and even have the cats sleep on my bed, Buoy and Gyal were always with each other.

A few months after they both became adult cats :) Gyal became pregnant and I was extremely happy. This was my first time witnessing another animal pregnant. I ensured she was extremely comfortable and Buoy ensured she was properly pampered, hehe.

About three months later, Gyal gave birth to four adorable kittens but they didn't survive. They had some form of eye infection. I did a bit of research and the internet told me to give them 5 to 14 days and I obliged.

During one of those days, I saw Gyal running towards me with a kitten in her mouth, she dropped the kitten in front of me and it was stone cold. I was extremely heartbroken and didn't know what to do. In the same manner, the rest of the kittens died. I know I was sad and I could only imagine how bad Buoy and Gyal felt.

A few months later, Gyal took in once again and again, I was elated. This time around, I prayed so hard for the kittens to survive. This is because, at this point, Buoy had gone wild and Gyal was left at home alone. So, the kittens were going to be the living proof that Buoy once existed.

I guess male cats preferring to live in the wild isn't so much of a myth after all

Gyal And Kids.

In January 2024, Gyal gave birth to four kittens but the one with pure white fur died well the other three made it. At least a few survived and this was consolation enough for me.

For the past months, I've watched the little kittens grow. Gyal has been such an amazing mother even when I was afraid she would deject the kittens . I guess the motherly instinct comes naturally after one has given birth.

The three kittens go everywhere with their mother and are still very afraid of human contact. They are still taking breast milk from their mother but they complement it with fish and meat sometimes.

Till date, I haven't named the new born kittens because like I said earlier, I've run out of names for kittens. If you have any name suggestions, I would love to hear them:)

I took the liberty of making a video compilation of some of the interesting cat moments I had the opportunity to witness. I hope you enjoy watching 😊.

Until next time, have a lovely weekend.

¡Hola, hola amante de las mascotas! ✨

Conoce a Buoy

Conoce a Gyal

Estaba extremadamente desconsolada y no sabía qué hacer.

Unos meses después, Gyal volvió a quedar embarazada y nuevamente, estaba eufórica.

Hello Needlework Lovers🤍

It's a lovely Monday and yet another amazing day to share my crochet crafts with the #needleworkmonday community.

For today, I would be sharing with you the process of making a “crochet granny square diamond halter top” (what a long name). This halter top was made exclusively with granny squares; the same granny squares that I have been avoiding for a while now.

I did a little research and I found out that there are numerous types of granny square patterns and most of them look a bit complex (until you try them out). The granny square pattern I used for this project was one that I considered to be very complex even after I was told that they were one of the easiest granny square patterns to make.

After so much hesitation and out of pure necessity, I decided to try out the pattern and I must confess that not only is it easy to make, I also love how the different colours compliment each other.

One interesting thing about this project is that I made it entirely using scrap yarn. A combination of six different colours of scrap yarn can get you this beautiful result.

Materials Used.

Different colours of yarn

4.5mm hook

Measuring tape

Tapestry needle

Yarn cutter

Procedure

First off, I had to determine how wide I wanted my granny squares to be. This is to ensure that the edges cover up one's bosom properly. To get the right size, measure from your sternum to the edge of your bosom. The measurement you get is what you would be working with for each granny square.

To make the granny square, I started with a magic circle. I made a chain of three and went ahead to make two more double crochet stitches (the chain three counts as a stitch) into the circle. I chained two and made three more double crochet stitches. I continued this till I got four corners.

After this, I chained one and fastened off. Sew in my loose ends and went ahead to change colour. To make the colour change, I inserted my hook into one of the corners, made a chain of three and made two extra double crochet stitches.

Then, I moved straight to the next corner, made a cluster of three, chained two and made another cluster of three into the same corner. I continued this till the end of the row.

Again, I made another colour change, following the same exact pattern as the previous row. The only slight difference would be the extra spaces before the corners. In these spaces, I made a cluster of three double crochet stitches and that was it.

After I made my four granny squares, it was time to join them together. With a single crochet stitch, I joined all four granny squares together and the top was coming out pretty well.

Now to the hard part–sewing in loose ends. I tried as much as possible to hide the loose ends while making the granny squares but they were still some loose ends to sew in and so I did just that.

After sewing in loose ends, I went around the edges of all the granny squares with a single crochet stitch to give the project a fine finish.

The last lap of this project was the rope. I made a rope long enough to go in through the required hole and with that, I came to the end of this masterpiece.

One part I liked most about this project was the fact that I got to play around with different colours, changing them as I saw fit. The beautiful thing about it is that the project still came out looking splendid.

This top is popularly worn to the beach but can still be worn out on a hot with a shawl or a jacket depending on your preference.

I took the liberty to make a short video of the process. You can check it out and tell me what you think as I would love to hear your remarks.

Hello hello needlework lovers✨

It is with utmost pleasure that I write this post today. Whenever I start a new crochet project that I would actually end up using, I get really excited.

Edited on canva

Talking about using my crochet accessories, I happened to wear one of the scrunchies I made sometime back to college and everyone totally loved it. I was asked lots of questions by crocheters, aspiring crocheters and none crocheters. Questions like " Did you make it yourself? How long did it take you to make it? Where do you purchase your yarns." Of course, I had to answer all these questions with a smile on my face.

Once again, there is a need and my crocheting skill swoops in to save the day. I realised that I need an extra bag because I have two bags and one of my bags is really Cumbersome, leaving me at the mercy of the other bag. I thought, "why not make yourself a tote bag?"

This idea to make a tote bag for myself had been lurking for a while now but at the time, I didn't really see the need to make one. But now, I do.

For the tote bag, I chose to use granny squares. Any one who has been reading my crochet articles would know that I grew to love making granny squares. Some patterns are complex and the other patterns are as simple as they come but either way, granny squares are beautiful.

I saw this heart motif granny square on Pinterest and decided to make my own tote bag with the same pattern but a different colour. Choosing the right colour wasn't such a big deal because I want to make a bag that can go with any outfit I wear, hence, the generous use of black yarn.

For this project, I started by chaining four and making a slip stitch into the first stitch. Another approach could be making a magic circle. After making a circle, I chained three and went ahead to make twelve double crochet stitches into the circle I made. From there, I got a circle.

With the circle in position, I started making the heart pattern. I used treble crochet, double crochet and single crochet stitches, while paying heed to the apex of the heart.

After coming up with a heart, I proceeded to make the corners using quadruple crochet, treble crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, single crochet and slip stitches. It was a process that required so much precision . Any mistake and you would have to start from scratch. At first I wondered how possible it was to make four corners on a heart heart but there you have it.

I need to make eighteen granny squares in total for the tote bag and after which I would start the coupling and proper alignment. I'm really eager to see how this bag will turn out in the end. I wonder if it would be firm enough to carry my notes. Upon completion, I would share the end results with the beautiful community but as of now, it is still a work in progress.

What do you think it would look like? Do you like the colour combination or I should have gone with a more shouty colour considering the conditions?

Hello everyone ✨

A beautiful Monday to you. It has been a very eventful past week for me but I'm glad I was able to stay afloat.

I've had to wear so many formal outfits lately and honestly, I'm gradually running out of formal outfits to wear. Since I'm more comfortable in suit pants, I decided to make a variety of inner wears to go with my suit pants.

The idea to start making these tops came out of the blue. This is why I'd always be grateful for the mind I have. Killing two to three birds while making crochet outfits is always my specialty so I decided to do the same with this project. The idea was to make a three coloured tank top.

Recently, I've admired dresses that have the same colour but different shades so I opted to try that out for one half of the tank top and for the other half, I decided to make it using plain black.

I can already see the versatility of this top. On days that I need a black tank top, I've got it. Also, on days when I need different shades of yellow, I've got it. You can only imagine how much I smiled throughout this whole project.

For the project, I used a generous amount of double crochet stitches with a 4.5mm hook. If you look closely, you'd notice the change in stitches at the top and the buttom parts of the tank top. I used single crochet stitches for the top and bottom parts. This is to ensure that the tank top fits tightly on the top and bottom parts.

While still at this project, the thought of making a project while changing hook sizes came to mind. How would a project look if I used a different stitch and a different hook for one part and a different one for the other part. I'm curious.

This tank top pretty much followed a single patter. I made twenty rows double crochet stitches for the front and the same number for the back. After making all the rows, I joined the flat piece, turning it into a round piece and I was pretty much done with the bodice.

Making the hand or straps was the next part. I made two rows of double Crochet stitches for each part. The straps are pretty much additions as the bodices fits perfectly without the straps.

With that, I was done with one addition to my closet. I can't wait to wear this with a a pair of suit pants and a relatively light jacket, @tengolotodo, what do you think?. As the dry and cold season is fast approaching (winter), I think this amazing addition to my closet. What do you think though?

Do you like what I did with the colours? What about the stitches used? I would totally love to hear your views on this.

Hello Lovely Needleworkers.

It's a cold Monday over here. For some days now, Mondays have either been very cold or rainy. Has this been the case for you? All the same, the weather doesn't stop me from sharing my needlework in the needleworkmonday community.

For this week, I made something that could come in really handy for bibliophiles (book lovers); crochet bookmarks. Book marks are used by people who do not want to keep folding the pages of their books to signify where they read last.

It reminds me of a time when I was reading a very cumbersome book. During that period, I was really distracted. I would read one page and something would come. These tasks required my full attention, and each time I stood up, I folded a page to signify where I read last. This way, I ended up folding almost all the leaves of that book and believe me when I say that the book didn't look so appealing after all the folding.

Recently, I've had to read cumbersome books once again and I wouldn't want the past to repeat itself, hence the book marks.

For these bookmarks, I used a simple but exquisite pattern. For some reason, I like crochet patterns that are a bit circular in nature. For this project, I used a 2.0mm hook.

I started by making three chains. After making the three chains, I made two double crochet stitches into the second chain and three double crochet stitches into the very first chain. In the end, you should have five double crochet stitches plus one. After this, I chained three, turned my work and worked into the hole I had created; in the space after the third double crochet stitch. This pattern was repeated till I got my desired length.

For the edging

I've seen so many people use this edging in crochet bags, crochet accessories, etc. I really like how much it makes crafts stand out and so I decided to add two of them to both ends of the bookmarks. This way, the bookmarks do not look so bland and it could be a great thing to touch while reading.

First, I cut a strand of the yarn and placed it horizontally on a plastic card. Then, I made fifteen wounds vertically with the yarn, cut off the yarn and tightened with the yarn I placed horizontally initially. I levelled it up but cutting off the excesses and my permit me to call it ruffle was ready.

The beads were an added advantage:) . I like the way the beads look on the bookmarks. If one doesn't look closely, they may miss it. The aim was to make the bookmarks look as appealing as possible and I hope I did. What do you think?

One person constantly kept crossing my mind while I was making this project–@jhymi. This is one bibliophile that I know and I hope to give her one of these the next time I see her.

In the meantime, I would like to know which colour you like best? The red or the golden-yellow? How about the pattern? Does it look too basic?

Until next time, stay creative and have a lovely Monday.🧶🧶

Hello love you people ✨

Welcome to today's #needleworkMonday I hope we all had splendid weekends.it is always a pleasure showcasing my needlework and at the same time seeing how extremely talented other needleworkers are.

Edited on canva

The needlework I will be sharing with you is an enantiomer of the original thing I will be making soon; depending on your response. Bags come in very handy but what if your bag was different and outstanding? Hence, my project for today.

The inspiration to make this bag came after an encounter with someone who knows I crochet. The person said that I do great with clothes but she would prefer accessories even better. When I asked what exactly she meant by "accessories", she mentioned bags first.

To be honest, the thought of making crochet bags didn't cross my mind before now. I thought to myself, "why not do a mini test run and see the outcome? If fellow needleworks and everyone in general like it, then you could think of making a larger size.

Making this mini bag was a really exciting experience. It was my second attempt using the mesh pattern with my first attempt being a disaster. As I was in the process of making the bag, I kept reassuring myself that mesh patterns are easy(like my crocheter friend always says) and that I can complete the project without making any mistakes.

To make the bag, I used a 3mm hook. First, I started with the base of the bag. I made a chain of twenty-eight. For row two, I skipped two stitches and worked an increase of three into the third stitch. After the increase, I made double crochet stitches into every other stitch till I reached the last stitch.

To make a curve, I worked six double crochet stitches into the last stitch. I continued from there with double crochet stitches into every stitch till the end. If you remember, initially , I started with a triple increase. So, I would also end with a triple increase and a slip knot. With this, my base was ready.

After the base, it was time to start making the mesh patterns. I chained two, skipped one stitch and inserted my hook into the stitch. I continued this pattern till I got to the end. From there, the pattern was pretty much a repetition.

I repeated this till I got to the twelfth row. At the twelfth row, It was time to make my bag handle. I inserted my hook at the ideal position for a handle and started making the mesh bag handle.

After that, I joined the otter end of the handle to the other side of the bag and my mini bag was ready. I particularly liked this goldish-yellow colour. It's really distinctive and popping.

To add more to the aesthetics of the bag, I made a little heart to go. The red colour really compliments the yellow colour so I thought, why not?.

I was really pleased with the outcome but just to be sure my emotions weren't playing tricks on me, I sent a video to the friend who inspired me. She said she likes it very much and would be looking forward to a bigger size.

How about you? Would you be looking forward to a bigger size? Are there any adjustments you would like me to add on the bigger size? What about the colour; which would you prefer. I am going to be taking everyone's comment into consideration so thank you In advance.

Until next Monday, stay creative and have a lovely Monday 😇

Hello everyone ✨

After going through the prompts for this week, I immediately knew which one I was going to be responding to. Recently, I started making short videos of my crochet projects and it has been a really amazing journey. There's no doubt that making videos of a project actually doubles the amount of time one spends on a project but in the end, it's for the love of it.

Uploading videos through 3speak using the app hasn't been easier. The process is fast and really smooth. If you haven't tried it out, you definitely should.

The niche I picked for today is #needlework. I would be sharing with you the process involved in making a crochet wallet. Before going into the process proper, I must say that wallets are life savers. They come in very handy; especially for people who walk around with cash and tons of cards.

The idea to make this wallet came out of the blues but after the completion of the project, I smiled. I smiled not because I had come to the end of the process but because I knew that I just made something that I would use for a very long time, especially for my cards. Without further ado, let me take you through the process.

Materials Used

Yarns

3.5mm hook

A pair of scissors

Darning needle

A button

Stitch markers

Procedure

First of all, I sketched out the plan for my wallet. This part is very vital. After making the sketch I started making the wallet with a picture in mind.

For starters, I made thirty-eight chains. It is best to keep it at an even number as you would be folding the chains along the line.

After making thirty-eight chains, I went back into the chains using a single crochet stitch. For the succeeding rows, I kept repeating this pattern till I got to the twelfth row.

After the twelfth row, I counted nineteen stitches and placed a stitch marker. This is because thirty-eight divided by two would give nineteen. From the nineteenth stitch, I kept repeating the initial pattern but only on the nineteen stitches. I did this for a total of twelve rows again.

By the end of the twelve half rows and twenty four rows in total, I made an extension of nineteen and made another twelve rows. This is to ensure that the wallet is balanced. So you would get twelve rows of thirty-eight chains, twelve rows of nineteen chains and another twelve rows of thirty-eight chains.

After that, it was time to make the outer covering of the wallet. For this part, I continued from where I stopped. The only difference however, was the stitch. I kept making slip stitches but I alternated between the original holes and the holes underneath. This gave it the leather-like appeal.

After making an additional thirty-seven rows of alternating single crochet stitches, I made the little extension for the button.

The final part of this project was the coupling phase. I coupled all the sides using a different shade of purple yarn. I just felt that adding a different shade would create a beautiful contrast. I was careful not to join all the openings. I left space for the centre of the wallet.

With that, I was done with my project. I added my button and sewed in the loose ends. I would say it took me approximately four hours to make this piece. Those were the longest fours of my life.

Just a little tip: if you ever decide to recreate this, I would advise that you use a small hook and your stitches should be very tight. If the stitches aren't tight, you wouldn't get a firm wallet.

So there you go, a mini crochet wallet that can come in very handy. I really should make this wallet in black colour, what do you think?I would love to hear your views on the project and on the short video too:)

Hello Diy Community ✨

One of the worst things that come with phones are the transparent pouches. At first, they look so bright and beautiful and a few weeks later, they turn brown. I'm not a fan of transparent phone pouches as they put me at risk. Imagine walking on the road and everyone can see what brand of phone you're holding. Where I'm from, that is a very risky move. This alone can prompt strangers to borrow your phone(temporarily or permanently).

Because of this, I bought my phone a coloured pouch immediately after I got the phone. The army green pouch looks really beautiful but I felt like I should get an upgrade–a pouch with a different design. I searched far and wide but all I could see was the same pouch in different colours. I'm sure you must have guessed the next thing that came to mind. "Why not make yourself a pouch?" I said to myself".

I know nothing about making pouches with yarns but I could always try. With that in mind, I set out to customise a pouch for my phone. With yarn, yay!

Materials Used

Yarns

3.5mm hook

Yarn needle

A pair of scissors

A measuring tape

Paper and pen

Glue

Procedure.

I started by sketching out a picture of what the pouch was supposed to look like. My sketches are not perfect but hey, there can't be crocheting without sketching and measurement.

After sketching I measured the length of my phone and with the measurement I made 35 chains. The 35 chains are the size of the phone lengthwise.

After making the base chains, I continued crocheting using the half double crochet stitches and single crochet stitches alternatively. Row after row I kept alternating till I made enough rows to cover the back of my phone.

After that, it was time to make the extension and join both sides of the pouch. I made eleven chains on the side and seven chains at the top. After that, I joined the two ends using a slip stitch.

After the slip stitch, one phase of the phone pouch was done. The next phase was the sides and the edges. I used half double crochet stitches to make the side. At each corner, I made an increase by working two stitches into one hole. After making an increase, I skipped the succeeding stitch and continued making the half double crochet stitches into the following rows. This helps to give the curves to the edges.

After making the side, the pouch was pretty much ready. The last thing I did was to add flowers to the pouch. To make the flowers, I started by making a magic circle. After that, I worked twelve single crochet stitches into the magic circle, fastened off the first colour and added another colour. With the new colour, I made popcorn stitches using half double crochets.

The last thing I did was to attach the flowers to the pouch using glue. The glue would ensure that the flowers do not go anywhere.

With that, I was done with the pouch. It is really really bright and alluring. I plan on making the pouch in darker colours and possibly in different patterns too.

So, what do you think of the pouch? Is it something you would readily carry outside? What about the colours? I would absolutely love to hear your views.

Hello everyone ✨

How To Crochet A Beautiful Flower.

The #howto contest ends in five days and I thought I should make one last video before the deadline. Making shorts has been really fun for me as it's a process of learning, unlearning and relearning. If you haven't joined the contest, then it isn't too late to do so ;)

For today, I will be showing you how to make a beautiful crochet flower in just three easy steps. Crochet flowers are really nice accessories to have around. If you are an artist or a crafter, you could always use crochet flowers to enhance your art. The flowers can be added to clothes, used as cup coasters, made into a flower bouquet; the options are endless.

Materials

To make this flower, you would need

Yarns

Crocheting pin

Yarn needle

A pair of scissors

Procedure.

First off, I started by making a magic circle. Magic circles could give some people a tough time but once you're done making your magic circle, then the rest of the project would be easier. Into the magic circle, I made eight single crochet stitches. Keeping it at an even number helps to ensure the evenness of your flower.

After making the single crochet stitches, I made a slip stitch and went ahead to make three chains. Into the same stitch where I made three chains, I made a double crochet stitch. This gives me the first pattern.

For the rest of the holes, I made two double crochet stitches. In the end I had sixteen lovely stitches. If you started with eight single crochet stitches and you worked two double crochet stitches into each hole, you should end up with sixteen stitches just like myself.

After the sixteenth stitch, I made a slip knot and cut off my yarn. My little circle is ready. It's time to make the petals.

For the petals, I made a slip stitch into the yellow yarn with a different coloured yarn. After attaching a different coloured yarn, I made a chain of six , went over my yarn four times and into the next hole. I worked out all the stitches in twos. Into the same hole, I repeated this pattern three times. After the third repetition, I made a chain of six and slip stitched it into another hole. I repeated the whole pattern seven times.

By the end of the seventh time, I did a slip stitch and cut off my yarn. The last thing I did was sew in my loose ends. After sewing in the loose ends, my flower was pretty much ready.

This is a really fun crochet project that anyone could try out in their spare time. To reiterate, I enjoyed making this flower and I couldn't hold back. I found myself making more and more of it. If care isn't taken, I may end up with a bouquet of crochet flowers by the end of today.

I would like to know which colour combination was your favourite? Thank you for your time.
