What’s up Vibes!

Sending you all a big greeting, I’m thrilled to participate again this week. I made it just in time, but with lots of excitement, because I’ve been wanting to perform this song for a long while.

I first heard it in the movie “Surf’s Up”, which quickly became one of my favorite films ever. Since the theme of this week was about movies, I couldn’t miss the chance to pay tribute with this cover.

The production was fresh and quite experimental, but it flowed nicely and I’m really happy with the final result — always looking forward to improving more and more.

Honestly, if I had to stick to just one genre for my personal music project, it would probably be something close to this sound. I couldn’t really name it exactly: it has elements of reggae, some rap, and a rock foundation. But it truly resonates with me. Hahaha, I wonder why? xD

Niño cemeruca (original song) - Vibes week 38

Greetings Vibes community! I'm ragaroot and this is my entry for Week 38 with an original song I wrote and produced from scratch. This time I want to share a very special piece for me, not only because of its story, but also because it represents another step in my journey into the world of music production.

Context

Recently, thanks to a new audio interface and a decent recording setup, I finally felt encouraged to produce a song I'd had pending for a long time. I'm just beginning to understand —or at least I hope so— the basics of music production. It's a dense and fascinating world that has completely captured me.

The song is called Niño Cemeruca, and I wrote it during my teenage years. It was my first composition with a clear intention and defined foundations. It came out of a heartbreak experience, but with a very particular approach: processing that emotional grief in a healthy way, without blame or denial, embracing what was lived.

Back in those days, I shared the song with very special friends. I remember that the brothers @not-here and @youngmusician were present during one of those intimate sessions, and their positive reception was key to my decision to one day produce it. That day has come, and now I want to share it with you as well.

Production

I recorded the audio using Ableton Live 12, a quality DAW that’s kept me busy for long hours exploring and discovering. There I also composed some instrument lines. Since my version of Ableton only allows 8 usable tracks and 2 sends, I used Reaper to do the final mix.

I was also experimenting on the video side with new tools like AI to upscale visuals, rotoscoping to integrate animated effects, and syncing movement to music using After Effects and Premiere. All of this has been part of a learning process I hope to keep expanding.

If you’re a music producer, I’d love to hear your technical opinion on the mix or composition. Any recommendation will be received with respect and gratitude. I’m also open to any advice related to sound design or lyrical interpretation.

En todo este tiempo reconociendo lo que realmente soy, me parece absurdo apuntar a otros cualquier tipo de incomodidad o problemática que tú mismo infundiste en tu realidad, eso tampoco resta la importancia de expresar lo que se opina y se sostiene argumentalmente, así que en vista de eso decidí apuntar esta crítica a la persona que realmente le compete hacer algo al respecto.

This time with a cover of who I consider a master, Juan Gómez Canca A.K.A. “El Kanka” is one of the Spanish musical artists, singer-songwriter and composer with an innate spontaneity and an amazing versatility throughout his career he has performed different genres where he would highlight the milonga, tango, fandango and different Mediterranean rhythms, and particularly surprised me the fact that in his first albums he even rapped about these rhythms in some way, since I heard him for the first time I kept my total gratitude to my brother @nothere for showing me his music.

Fly me to the moon (cover) | VIBES WEEK 16

I've come to play among the stars... Hello to all the Vibes community, it's a pleasure to participate in this week's weekly contest, I've been looking forward to it for a while, and finally I could finally organize myself to be here, this is my first participation and the truth is that I'm impressed by the amount of high level vocal talent that is here, so I hope to give the width people.

Regarding the theme of the week, this song “Fly me to the moon” by the great Frank Sinatra has a very dense value for me, because it was the first song in English that I could learn, being a Spanish speaker, I consider it a milestone that this was my first song in this language.

Recently, I'm soaking in music production and all that it implies, my level is basic, but I'm really fascinated by this world, so I wanted to apply what I'm learning in this interpretation.

I use a generic mic that doesn't require an interface to record, but it's not bad at all, and I use the Reaper program to record and mix, I wanted to play with various filters and apply a solid layout to the voice, and take the basic considerations for mastering.

The hundreds of producers who share their knowledge for free on Youtube are the ones who make it possible for me to take my first steps, so I wish it rains a sack of bills on their heads!

If there is any experienced producer who wants to give me some tips or considerations about the mix and sound in general of this piece, you are welcome to share what you have to, without any commitment of course.

This song was written by the American composer Bart Howard, but obviously who popularized it was the master Sinatra, as a curious fact the Apollo space program, took this song as unofficial anthem. what a Sublime!

My relationship with music in general has been quite changeable. I like to interpret various genres, but this song has something that evokes me some nostalgia, maybe because I've heard it in so many versions and especially because I relate it to the closing song of the anime Evangelion that had a version of this song much slower and less cheerful, the accompanying cinematic has many cold tones, but definitely this song evokes much of my early stage knowing the creative world, so without more to contribute I hope you enjoy the interpretation.

The first RAPPING stage at the Solasso | La primera tarima RAPEANDO en el Solasso

A few months ago I lived something super important for me, I'm talking about the experience of my first stage doing rap, previously I have sung multiple times in different scenarios and presentations, but I had never done it with rap and much less written by my own hand. I had a huge resistance to share this video because the first few times it has a strange bittersweet taste, the process I have gone through to integrate what I really like and take it on has also been interesting so releasing this content is quite cathartic and necessary to keep growing as an artist and creator.

Tenía una resistencia enorme a compartir este vídeo porque las primeras veces tiene un extraño sabor agridulce, el proceso que he vivido para integrar lo que realmente me gusta y asumirlo también ha sido interesante por lo que liberar este contenido es bastante catártico y necesario para seguir creciendo como artista y creador.

That day the night atmosphere soaked us and we had a couple of shots of rum, you know to calm the nerves and clear the throat, so maybe the camera sometimes overdoes it with the shots xD hahahaha, well, but in total appreciation for it, because they really leave me a lot of teaching and enjoyment.

Ese día el ambiente nocturno nos empapó y nos tomamos un par de chupitos de ron, ya sabes para calmar los nervios y aclarar la garganta, por eso quizás la cámara a veces se pasa con las tomas xD jajajaja, bien, pero en total agradecimiento por ello, porque realmente me dejan mucha enseñanza y disfrute.

I remember that before going on stage one of the organizers told me, brother you have exactly 15 minutes to give your show, if I see that in the middle of the show people are not agreeing with you, I will make signs for you to close and go down, which perhaps unnecessarily raised my tension a little, and although between songs the DJ got the wrong track a couple of times and started to raise doubts, everything went very well, people most of the time were expectant and enjoying my performance, which made me get off very relieved and even more when I saw that young guys came up to me to congratulate me and make it clear how much they enjoyed the moment.

Recuerdo que antes de salir al escenario uno de los organizadores me dijo, hermano tienes exactamente 15 minutos para dar tu show, si veo que a mitad del show la gente no está de acuerdo contigo, te haré señas para que cierres y bajes, lo que quizás innecesariamente elevó un poco mi tensión, y aunque entre canción y canción el DJ se equivocó de pista un par de veces y empezaron a surgir dudas, todo fue muy bien, la gente la mayor parte del tiempo estuvo expectante y disfrutando de mi actuación, lo que me hizo bajar muy aliviado y más cuando vi que chicos jóvenes se acercaban a mí para felicitarme y dejarme claro lo mucho que habían disfrutado del momento.

The event gave participants certificates for participation, which I think is great to endorse the work that artists do, there were very interesting bands and artists that day with whom I could socialize for a while, overall the event was a success.

El evento dio a los participantes certificados de participación, lo que me parece estupendo para avalar el trabajo que hacen los artistas, había grupos y artistas muy interesantes ese día con los que pude socializar un rato, en general el evento fue un éxito.

Definitely at that time I was in a process of transformation, because it was also the first time that I shaved my abundant hair that always characterized me x.x

Definitivamente en esa época estaba en un proceso de transformación, porque también fue la primera vez que me rasuré mi abundante cabellera que siempre me caracterizó x.x

Hiiii a warm greeting to everyone, it is an honor to be here and share the stage with high level artists in this community, today I want to share a cover of a song that I love and enjoy performing, it is obvious that we all have endured broken hearts and music being such a deep language manages to define these processes in the most accurate way, tell me have you ever felt like the song "sin ti" let me know if it was like that xD.

As you may have already guessed I love to listen and play Reggae, but I also enjoy playing other musical styles, somewhat radical in difference to reggae, which I will be sharing in due course, one of those genres is the joropo and creole music of course (Venezuelan musical genres), and I mention it just because the name of this community reminds me of my early musical times, where I stepped on my first stages as a child of 10 years old (more or less xD) in Festivals of llanera music, all those experiences gave me too many joys and very cool experiences, which I treasure with much love and respect for the strong music of the Venezuelan plains, my parents were responsible for transmitting me this love for music which I value greatly.

So you have been warned, don't be surprised if I show up here smelling like a savannah and plain gentlemen xD...

Hoolaaa un cálido saludo para todos, es un honor estar acá y compartir tarima con artistas de alto nivel en esta comunidad, hoy quiero compartir el cover de una canción que me encanta y disfruto mucho interpretar, es obvio suponer que todos hemos sobrellevados corazones rotos y la música siendo un lenguaje tan profundo logra definir estos procesos de la manera más acertada, cuéntame alguna vez te has sentido como la canción "sin ti" déjame saber si fue así xD.

Como ya han de suponer me gusta mucho escuchar e interpretar Reggae, pero también disfruto de interpretar otros estilos musicales, un tanto radicales en diferencia al reggae, que estaré compartiéndoles en su momento, uno de esos géneros es el joropo y la música criolla por su puesto (Géneros musicales venezolanos), y lo menciono justo porque el nombre de esta comunidad me recuerda mis primeras épocas musicales, donde pise mis primeras tarimas siendo un niño de 10 años (más o menos xD) en Festivales de música llanera, todas esas experiencias me brindaron demasiadas alegrías y vivencias muy geniales, que atesoro con mucho amor y respeto hacia la música recia del llano venezolano, mis padres se encargaron de transmitirme este amor por la música cosa que valoro enormemente.

Así que ya están advertidos, no se sorprendan si aparezco por acá con olor a sabana y llano señores xD...
