You should use Obsidian, it's amazing.

We get a Praetorian build today, so a strong sword + board wielder, with a rifle off the hop as well. Great build, with a lot of potential. I, of course, overestimated my ability to soak damage and died - RIP Random Praetorian for day 152 of 2026.

We set out from Joppa, following the traditional path of new players - Red Rock, Rust Wells, and all that fun stuff.

And with those positive vibes going in, we attempt to survive more than 10 minutes today... and hooo-boy do we ever succeed! This was a very fun run, wish I had longer to keep it going!

Today, we get cornered by a symbiotic qudzu and die! It's a blast!

Today's build is a True Kin with a +6 to movement speed, which is pretty good, honestly. As far as survivability, this isn't a terrible starter. It's also got two very beginner-friendly quests today which is nice. Not all of the starting quests are this forgiving.

We got a bit too sure of ourselves and died trying to heal above some stairs - which, honestly, that's on me. I know better, and I did it anyhow. Just one of the many ways Caves of Qud is a wonderfully fun, weird, and punishing game.

This was a pretty good run, full of some great early-game progression, a decent bit of exploration, and a lot of information about the game delivered.

We didn't get any cool new cybernetics this run which is unforunate but not unexpected - I don't do super well with True Kin builds as I find that getting the required credits for extra cybernetics is always difficult. Maybe next time we'll make that our goal.

Today we managed to die twice in 17 minutes, but I also discuss how the map works for danger and it's a fairly good illustration of exactly what I was talking about.

Something like this would normally be a great starting character with a ton of survivability. Unfortunately, we got surprised by a Slugsnout just hiding behind a bench waiting to gun us down... so it was a very short run today - just 15 minutes or so. But, a very fun build with a ton of great features. I'd definitely recommend this build, it's very beginner friendly!

Today's seed was a fun one - neat starting character with sleep gas and unstable genome doing a lot of the heavy lifting. A few more minutes and we'd have managed to buy a mutation and see what neat options we could get, but we ended up taking a rifle slug and being brought down. Still, even with that, we got 6k score today and somehow ranked #4 on the Daily leaderboard. Quite surprising!

We missed yesterday's Daily, as I was busy as heck all day and just didn't get a moment to get on my PC. Today we're back at it though, and trying out another True Kin build. This time we get Finger Flexors again, but our Agility is trash and we start with a Cudgel instead of any kind of ranged weapon. Not the best Cybernetic to start, but hey, that's okay.

We were able to take some pretty heavy hits this run, and up until we ran into a dang Dawnglider we were doing great (flying fire-breathing serpents who love the desert).

A Dawnglider at level 5 is absolutely a potential run-ender. I did try to shoot it down with a bow I looted off a Snapjaw corpse, but unfortunately our Agility was utter turd and that means my accuracy was trash and of course... We got lit on fire and ended up dying.

Still though, this was a fun Daily to run through. We got 12k score for today, placing us at Rank 9 for the current stream leaderboards. Not bad!

It's a short one today - we survive a paltry 15 minutes before getting an exploding crossbow to the face. Such is the way things go!

Today's build is a pretty good character. We get Tinker 1 and 2 as part of the character, which are great skills. We're a truekin, and one of the initial quests take us to a Becoming Nook where we'd be able to upgrade our cybernetics if we had the credits to do so.

My plan was going to be to hit up a Historic Site and then grab a credit wedge to come back up and increase our Cybernetics slots and slot some new stuff into our body... but my plan was cut short by an over-eager adventurer and a boomrose arrow.

Still, though, it was a great little 15-minute jaunt and I think this character seed has a lot of potential.

We're back again for another 1-hour-max Daily! Today's seed is for Day 131 of 2026, and we're given a Praetorian True Kin to play with.

For those unfamiliar, Caves of Qud has two styles of character. One is the Mutant, which as the name implies is a humanoid that has and can gain all kinds of various mutations. There are both physical and mental mutations, and some of them get downright wild. I love my muties.

The other option is a True Kin build. The True Kin see themselves as genetically pure offspring of original humanity (more or less), and cannot gain mutations. They can however, become cyborgs. They're able to implant various cybernetics over the course of a run to make up for their lack of mutations.

This chap today has 'Rapid Release Finger Flexors' which allows him to fire pistols faster. In my case, I didn't end up with Pistols to really make use of that cybernetic... but they're often a very good choice for ranged True Kin builds.

We end up with a daily score of about 12k, which is respectable. At the time of recording it put me 9th on the daily leaderboard, which I'm sure will go down by the evening. Still, a fun, quick little dive into the Caves of Qud today.
