My name is Jhony Medina, and I am a performer of Venezuelan folklore. Today, I join this activity by performing for you this unreleased song by my father, Horacio Medina, entitled “El Gran Amor de mi Vida” (The Great Love of My Life). This beautiful song was written about seven years ago, and it tells us about when a love leaves us and we have to embark on a search for inner peace in different places, living through moments of loneliness, sadness, and great uncertainty. We definitely have to rediscover ourselves and learn to live with the lessons that pain teaches us.

El Gran Amor de mi Vida is a song that has been very well received by different audiences and in different cities and venues in Venezuela and abroad. The composer Horacio Medina carried this song deep in his heart and had great faith and affection for it. Today we have the great opportunity to perform it for you. It is a song that we plan to include in our future recordings, especially because my father passed away exactly one year ago this week, and we want to continue with the tribute and compilation of his music. Esta hermosa canción tiene al rededor de unos 7 años desde su composición, y nos habla de cuando un amor se va y nos toca emprender la búsqueda de nuestra paz interior por distinto lugares, viviendo en esos momentos de soledad, tristeza y mucha incertidumbre a la vez. Definitivamente nos toca reencontrarnos a nosotros mismos y aprender a vivir con la enseñanza que nos deja el dolor.

Lo escribí aproximadamente hace unos 10 años, pero las veces que la he cantado en público han sido muy escasas, así que ni siquiera es tan conocida entre mi grupo de amistades y músicos cercanos, ya que la considero muy personal, pero las veces que la hemos presentado en vivo ha tenido mucha aceptación.

Al igual que otras de mis canciones que ya he compartido en la comunidad de Hive, "Despecho y Cantina" habla sobre el desamor, un sentimiento que me ha inspirado a escribir muchas canciones, especialmente en el pasado, antes de conocer a mi amada esposa.
