There is no doubt that December is an incredible month, and the atmosphere surrounding this time of year is filled with deep feelings and emotions, where traditions bring back old memories and where joy and nostalgia combine to create unique and unforgettable moments. But the December celebrations also mark a crucial point in family unity, as these holidays are fundamentally based on values such as love, brotherhood, and mutual solidarity.

No cabe la menor duda de que diciembre es un mes increíble y el ambiente que gira en torno a esta fecha del año está cargado de profundos sentimientos y emociones, en donde las tradiciones reviven viejos recuerdos y en donde la alegría y la nostalgia se conjugan para crear momentos únicos e inolvidables. Pero las celebraciones decembrinas también marcan un punto crucial en la unión familiar, ya que estas fiestas tienen como núcleo fundamental valores como el amor, la fraternidad y la solidaridad mutua.

Within Venezuelan society and culture, the family unit is the foundation of our entire existence, which is why it is important that we remain united during these iconic dates, so that together we can overcome all the difficulties and wounds of the year that is coming to an end, while at the same time ushering in a new period filled with dreams to fulfill, profound joys, and new challenges that we will surely overcome in a positive way.

Dentro de la sociedad y la cultura venezolana, el núcleo familiar es la base primigenia de toda nuestra existencia, por lo cual es importante que en estas fechas tan icónicas nos mantengamos unidos, para que juntos podamos superar todas aquellas dificultades y heridas de un año que queda atrás, pero al mismo tiempo le demos paso a un nuevo periodo temporal que está cargado de muchos sueños por cumplir, profundas alegrías y nuevos retos que muy seguramente resolveremos de manera positiva.

Perhaps there have been months when some of us have been distant; perhaps some family members are present through a digital screen, and most likely others remain alive only in our memories. But the most important thing is that, regardless of adversity, we continue to build a common feeling, always based on love, brotherhood, and understanding, so that we can continue to be an unstoppable train traveling along the tracks of a life that is temporary.

Tal vez hayan pasado meses en donde alguno de nosotros ha estado distante; quizás algunos miembros de la familia están presentes a través de una pantalla digital y muy seguramente otros solo permanecen vivos en nuestros recuerdos. Pero lo más importante es que, sin importar las adversidades, sigamos construyendo un sentimiento común, siempre basado en el amor, la fraternidad y la comprensión, para que de esta forma sigamos siendo un tren indetenible que circula por los rieles de una vida que es temporal.

Our life, compared to many elements that surround the universe, is quite short, therefore, I am deeply convinced that every moment should be enjoyed to the fullest. It is important to laugh, cry, dance, and enjoy our earthly existence in the most responsible and happy way possible, where we enjoy the company of our loved ones, filling every corner of our family with joy, so that our legacy remains alive in the memory of future generations.

Nuestra vida, en comparación con muchos elementos que rodean el universo, es bastante corta, por lo tanto, estoy profundamente convencido de que cada instante debe ser disfrutado al máximo. Es importante reír, llorar, bailar y gozar nuestra existencia terrenal de la forma más responsable y feliz posible, en donde disfrutemos de la compañía de los nuestros, llenando de alegría a cada rincón de nuestra familia, para que de esta forma nuestro legado permanezca vivo en el recuerdo de las generaciones futuras.

The new year represents the continuation of those projects that were left pending, but at the same time it is the starting point for many ideas that will materialize as the days go by. But the most important thing about this time of year is that we have grown stronger as a family, we have rediscovered each other through joy, and our energies are completely renewed, allowing us to face our individual destinies with optimism and enthusiasm, without losing sight of a common future that undoubtedly shapes all our paths.

El año nuevo constituye la continuidad de aquellos proyectos que quedaron pendientes, pero al mismo tiempo es el punto de partida de muchas ideas que se irán materializando a medida que avanzan los días. Pero lo más importante de esta época es que nos hemos fortalecido como familia, nos hemos reencontrado desde la alegría y nuestras energías están totalmente renovadas, para de esta manera afrontar de forma plena y optimista nuestros destinos individuales, pero sin perder de vista un devenir común que sin duda alguna marca de manera transversal todas nuestras vías.

Coffee for Breakfast

A new week begins, and at the same time, we start a new month. Incredibly, in the blink of an eye, a year full of stories, challenges, difficulties, and successes has passed. In the blink of an eye, we will be celebrating the start of 2026, and I hope that with it we will also have the opportunity to continue moving toward a more stable and prosperous future, where peace continues to reign and where everyone can continue to forge their own story, full of experiences and lessons learned.

You could say that today marks the beginning of the end of a cycle, and to face these last days of the year, it is important to wake up and enjoy a good breakfast, one of those that comes with a great aroma, an incredible flavor, and that warmth so typical of Venezuelan coffee, where we will always find a touch of sweetness, fruity notes, and the energy of ancestral experiences and indelible memories.

Today I got up quite early, the idea was to take full advantage of the morning, but before sitting down to work I decided to prepare a simple breakfast, but one full of 100% Venezuelan flavors. So I chose to make myself a coffee that was not too dark, but with a little extra sugar, to give my body the energy it needs to face a day that will undoubtedly be quite busy.

As a complement, I had a few slices of a typical bread from the Andean region, which is slightly sweet, very soft, and best of all, filled with cheese, so I thought it was the ideal accompaniment for that morning coffee.

It seems unbelievable, but coffee is a kind of fuel, because just by drinking a small cup, the body seems to activate and our mind begins to work at cruising speed, leaving behind the drowsiness of cold nights full of dreams, so that we can start a day where every task and activity is performed in the best possible way.

Since I was a child, the first aroma I noticed when I got out of bed was that of freshly brewed coffee, and now that I have a slightly more independent life, yet one full of many responsibilities, I am the one who, following tradition, brews the morning coffee, filling my home with that characteristic aroma that stimulates all the senses.

It was the last days of 2011, and my life was entering a new phase, as I had started university a few months earlier. Under these circumstances, I began to make new friends and discover how different the world is when you leave high school and face a more complex universe full of numerous challenges. Fortunately, I met a group of people who turned out to be quite nice, and with whom I forged a friendship that would last a long time.

El Becazo, Una Tarde Llena de Rock

Transcurrían en los últimos días del año 2011, y mi vida comenzaba a adentrarse en una nueva etapa, puesto que meses atrás había comenzado con mis estudios universitarios y bajo esas condiciones empecé a descubrir nuevos amigos, empecé a aprender lo diferente que es el mundo cuando uno deja la secundaria y se enfrenta a un universo más complejo y al mismo tiempo lleno de numerosos retos. Pero afortunadamente coincidí con un grupo de personas que resultaron ser bastante buenas y con las cuales forje una amistad que duraría mucho tiempo.

One afternoon, we received the news that the Venezuelan rock band Caramelos de Cianuro would be performing at a low cost at an event organized in the courtyard of the Andrés Bello Catholic University, a private institution of higher learning that organizes public events to benefit a fund intended to provide scholarships to students who have just graduated from high school and have high grade point averages, but whose economic conditions prevent them from enrolling in an institution like this, which happens to be one of the most expensive in the country.

Una tarde nos llegaría la noticia de que el grupo de rock venezolano denominado Caramelos de Cianuro se presentaría a bajo costo en un evento organizado en los previos de la Universidad Católica Andrés Bello, el cual es un recinto de estudios superiores de carácter privado, el cual organiza eventos públicos a beneficios de un fondo destinado a becar a estudiantes recién salidos de la secundaria y cuyos promedios sean elevados, pero que sus condiciones económicas les impidan matricularse en una institución como esta que resulta ser una de las más costosas del país.

This rock band was my favorite at the time, and to tell the truth, the tickets were quite cheap, so this was a concert I couldn't miss. Among many conversations, I discovered that my new friends also enjoyed every lyric and every rhythm of this Venezuelan band, so we decided to venture out to a concert that promised to bring the best of this genre with 100% Venezuelan lyrics.

Este grupo de Rock para el momento era mi favorito y a decir verdad las entradas eran bastante económicas, por lo tanto, esto es un concierto que no me podía perder y entre tantas conversaciones descubrí que mis nuevas amigas también disfrutaban cada letra y cada ritmo de esta agrupación venezolana, es de esta forma como decidimos aventurarnos hacia un concierto que prometía traer lo mejor de este género con letras 100% venezolanas.

We were among the first to arrive at the venue, and thanks to them, we got a prime location. We were very close to the stage and from there we could see those idols we had only seen on screen from the front rows. To songs like Verónica, El Último Polvo, and No eres Tú, we jumped, screamed, and sang nonstop, always surrounded by good vibes that filled us with joy, optimism, and happiness.

Fuimos de los primeros en llegar al lugar del evento y gracias a ellos obtuvimos una ubicación privilegiada. Estábamos muy cerca de la tarima y desde allí pudimos observar en primeras filas a esos ídolos que solo habíamos mirado a través de las pantallas. De canciones como Verónica, el Último Polvo y No eres Tú, saltamos, gritamos y cantamos sin parar, siempre rodeados de una buena vibra que nos llenaba de alegría, optimismo y felicidad.

At that time, half of the members of Caramelos de Cianuro were affiliated with Andrés Bello Catholic University, but the other half had their roots in the Central University of Venezuela, which is undoubtedly the best in the country, but also my alma mater. That's how we all got involved in a kind of cultural division that led us to compete between those who sang louder and harder, which resulted in an interaction between the audience and the band that was truly spectacular.

Para ese entonces la mitad de los integrantes de Caramelos de Cianuro estaban vinculados a la Universidad Católica Andrés Bello, pero la otra mitad tenía sus raíces en la Universidad Central de Venezuela, las cuales pública y sin duda alguna la mejor del país, pero además de ello también es mi casa de estudios, es así como todos nos vimos involucrados en una especie de división cultural que nos llevó a competir entre quienes cantaban más duro y más alto, lo cual resultó en una interacción entre el público y la banda que fue realmente espectacular.

Con el tiempo y los años transcurridos me atrevería a decir que este fue uno de los conciertos más épicos de esta banda de rock, ya que realmente llegó a la fibra del público, en una época en donde las letras de cada canción eran tan famosas como el himno nacional, ya que las mismas marcaban ese espíritu irreverente que caracterizaba a los jóvenes que se encontrarán inmersos en una época de diversión y aventuras.

This was not just another outing that would remain in our memories; this concert also marked the beginning of a friendship that would last for many years, which would reap great successes, write many stories, and live many experiences, but due to life circumstances, each of us ended up following a different path. However, despite what many may think, there were no arguments or bad feelings. On the contrary, everything remained as an extraordinary memory of how beautiful friendship is, how important brotherhood is, and how great loyalty is.

Esta no fue una salida más de esas que quedan en el recuerdo, este concierto también marcó el inicio de una amistad que duraría muchos años, la cual cosecharía grandes éxitos, escribiría muchas historias y viviría muchas experiencias, pero que por cuestiones de la vida cada quien terminó surcando un camino distinto, pero a pesar muchos puedan pensar, no hubo discusiones ni malos términos, al contrario, todo quedó como un recuerdo extraordinario de lo hermosa que es la amistad, lo importante que es la fraternidad y lo grandiosa de la lealtad.

In life, some friends are forever, while others only accompany us for a certain time. the important thing is to always give our best, taking into account honesty, love, and loyalty, so that in a future like the one we are living today, we can look back and find memories like this that are simply perfect, which bring a smile to our faces and encourage us to move forward, becoming better people and dreaming of a much bigger and more humane world.

En la vida y amigos que son para siempre, mientras que otros solo nos acompañan por determinado tiempo, lo importante es siempre dar lo mejor de sí, tomando en cuenta la honestidad, el amor y la lealtad, que en un futuro como el que estamos viviendo hoy podamos ver atrás y nos encontremos con recuerdos como este que Sencillamente son perfectos, los cuales nos sacan una sonrisa del rostro y nos impulsan a seguir adelante siendo mejores personas y soñando en un mundo mucho más grande y humano.

¡Hola amigos! Bienvenidos a este primer episodio de Historias Profundas, un espacio en donde divagaremos por un universo marcado por la creatividad, pero al mismo tiempo lleno de verdades y mensajes que tocan lo profundo del alma.

En esta ocasión les traigo un relato de mi autoría, en donde nos adentraremos en los horrores de una ciudad en guerra. Un espacio marcado por el olvido y la destrucción, en donde la juventud no tiene futuro y el pueblo pierde las esperanzas.

Hoy el mundo mira con horror cómo nuevos conflictos se alzan en el horizonte, una situación que solo deja miseria y tristeza. Las instituciones internacionales parecen ineficaces, mientras que los gobiernos del mundo son guiados únicamente por la codicia y el poder.

50 Years of the System

Venezuela is an incredible country, from these lands have emerged thousands of ideas whose main objective is to contribute to the development of a much more humane, peaceful and loving world. Venezuelan society 50 years ago was marked by economic differences, vices and the constant risk that the poorest youth would grow up with an uncertain future, since study and the arts were a space reserved for those with much higher purchasing power.

Venezuela es un país increíble, de estas tierras han surgido miles de ideas cuyo objetivo principal es contribuir con el desarrollo de un mundo mucho más humano, pacífico y amoroso. La sociedad venezolana de hace 50 años estaba marcada por las diferencias económicas, los vicios y el constante riesgo de que las juventudes más pobres crecieran con un futuro incierto, ya que el estudio y las artes eran un espacio reservado para aquellos de poder adquisitivo mucho más elevado.

In the midst of this convulsed, fragmented and weakened society, many young people squandered their lives immersed in the consumption of illicit substances, which also led them to a daily life where illegal acts were very present, thus marking a life sentence that would not allow them to leave this destructive circle.

En medio de esta sociedad tan convulsa, fragmentada y debilitada, muchos jóvenes despilfarraban sus vidas sumidos en el consumo de sustancias ilícitas, las cuales también los orillaban hacia una cotidianidad en donde los actos ilegales estaban muy presentes, marcando de esta forma una sentencia de por vida que no los permitiría salir de este círculo destructivo.

In the midst of this overwhelming and complex reality, maestro José Antonio Abreu materialized a novel and futuristic idea, through which he sought to attract children and young people of all ages, in order to induce them into the wonderful world of music, rhythm and art. This was intended to light a powerful torch that would illuminate such a dark reality, thus dispelling the ghosts of social degradation and allowing many to find the path to a bright and prosperous future.

En medio de esta realidad avasallante y compleja, el maestro José Antonio Abreu materializó una idea novedosa y futurista, mediante la cual se buscaba captar a niños y jóvenes de las variadas populares, para inducir en el maravilloso mundo de la música, el ritmo y el arte. Con esto se pretendía encender una poderosa antorcha que alumbrara una realidad tan oscura, ando así los fantasmas de la degradación social y permitiéndole a muchos encontrar el camino de un futuro brillante y próspero.

For many years the project was financed thanks to private donations and little by little the results were gaining notoriety, since not only an important social change was achieved, but also the young people who were part of this experiment achieved an impressive academic excellence, demonstrating that the teaching method used was from every point of view a great success.

Durante muchos años el proyecto fue financiado gracias a donaciones privadas y poco a poco los resultados fueron ganando notoriedad, ya que no solo se lograba un importante cambio social, sino que también los jóvenes que formaban parte de este experimento lograban una excelencia académica impresionante, demostrando que el método de enseñanza utilizado era desde todo punto de vista un gran éxito.

Each international presentation was becoming a news of national impact, excellent group performances and great individual virtues were forging a pride that transcended all those involved with this musical movement.

Cada presentación internacional se iba convirtiendo en una noticia de impacto nacional, excelentes ejecuciones grupales y grandes virtudes individuales iban forjando un orgullo que trascendía a todos aquellos involucrados con este movimiento musical.

With the arrival of the 2000s, the national government set its sights on this musical movement, which pointed towards a different way of building peace and it was in this way that a stage of musical massification began, different nuclei began to be created throughout the national territory, from there different orchestras began to emerge, Each child and young person sought to perfect themselves in the rhythms they liked the most and this is how the Simón Bolívar National System of Children and Youth Orchestras and Choirs was born, where it is no longer only classical music, but where we can also find rock, salsa, merengue, traditional music and much more.

Con la llegada de la década de los 2000, el gobierno nacional puso su mirada sobre ese movimiento musical, el que apuntaba hacia una manera diferente de construir la paz y fue de esta manera como comienza una etapa de masificación musical, empezaron a crear diferentes núcleos a lo largo y ancho del territorio nacional, de allí comenzaron a surgir diferentes orquestas, agrupaciones y ensambles, cada niño y joven buscaba perfeccionarse en los ritmos que más le gustaban y es de esta forma como nace el Sistema Nacional de Orquestas y Coros Infantiles y Juveniles Simón Bolívar, en donde ya no es solo se escucha música clásica, sino en donde también podemos encontrar rock, salsa, merengue, música tradicional y mucho más.

The excellence in this model has made the whole world recognize the hard work carried out by Maestro José Antonio Abreu and the system in general, hence today this great group can boast of the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts in 2018, the Guinness World Records, the largest orchestra in the world (12,000 musicians performing The Slavonic March by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky) and the Latin Grammy for best classical music album of the year 2023.

La excelencia en este modelo ha logrado que el mundo entero reconozca el arduo trabajo llevado a cabo por el maestro José Antonio Abreu y por el sistema en general, de allí que hoy en día esta gran agrupación puede presumir del premio Príncipe de Asturias de las Artes en el año 2018, el Guinness World Records, a la orquesta más grande del mundo (12.000 músicos ejecutando La Marcha Eslava de Piotr Ilich Chaikovski) y el Grammy Latino al mejor álbum de música clásica del año 2023.

In this way we can see that this system of orchestras and choirs goes beyond a simple musical association, since it is a different way of seeing life, it is a fun and perfect way to build a great and bright future, but it is really the most sublime and successful idea with which barriers are demolished, paradigms are broken and a more humane and peaceful society is built.

En esta forma como podemos observar que este sistema de orquestas y coros va más allá de una simple asociación musical, puesto que se trata de una forma diferente de ver la vida, es una manera divertida y perfecta de construir un futuro grande y brillante, pero realmente es la idea más sublime acertada con la cual se derriban barreras, se rompen paradigmas y se edifica una sociedad más humana y pacífica.

Dancing to the Rhythm of San Juan

The solstices are natural phenomena that come with a great mysticism, depending on the religion to which we belong, our ancestral roots and our nationality we can observe these astronomical events from a very different point of view, but in general terms we can say that it is an event on which many beliefs, ideas and customs are closed. Venezuela since its independence has been a country with a Catholic vocation, thanks to the colonial heritage left by the Spanish Empire, which is how it is understood that in this Caribbean land many typical customs and festivities of Roman Catholicism are celebrated.

Bailando al Ritmo de San Juan

Los solsticios son fenómenos naturales que vienen acompañados con un gran misticismo, depende de la religión a la que pertenezcamos, de nuestras raíces ancestrales y nuestra nacionalidad podremos observar estos eventos astronómicos desde un punto de vista muy diferente, pero en términos generales podemos decir que se trata de un evento sobre el cual se cierran muchas creencias, ideas y costumbres. Venezuela desde su independencia ha sido un país de vocación católica, esto Gracias a la herencia colonial dejada por el Imperio español, es de esta forma como se entiende que en esta tierra caribeña se celebren muchas y costumbres típicas de las fiestas del catolicismo romano.

For the Venezuelan people and very specifically for the Afro-descendant population, the 24th of June is a very special day, since it celebrates the victory in the Battle of Carabobo, whose result was decisive for the Venezuelan emancipation, but it is also the day of Saint John the Baptist, one of the most important religious figures for Catholic Christianity, since he baptised Jesus in the waters of the Jordan River, thus starting a religious belief that would forever change the way of seeing the world.

Para el pueblo venezolano y muy específicamente para la población afrodescendiente el 24 de junio es un día muy especial, puesto que se celebra la victoria en la Batalla de Carabobo, cuyo resultado fue decisivo para la emancipación venezolana, pero también es el día de San Juan Bautista, uno de los personajes religiosos más importantes para el cristianismo católico, ya que él quien bautizó a Jesús en las aguas del río Jordán, dando inicio de esta manera a una creencia religiosa que cambiaría para siempre la forma de ver el mundo.

If I am not mistaken San Juan Bautista is the only saint whose birth is celebrated and his feast is surrounded by joy, songs and the beating of drums, this last characteristic is undoubtedly a cultural heritage brought to these lands by the slaves in colonial times, who with their rhythms, songs and movements gave life to the religious syncretism of San Juan.

Si no me equivoco San Juan Bautista es el único santo al que se le celebra su nacimiento y su fiesta está rodeada de alegría, cantos y el repicar de los tambores, esta última característica es sin duda alguna una herencia cultural traída a estas tierras por parte de los esclavos en la época colonial, quienes con sus ritmos, cantos y movimientos le dieron vida al sincretismo religioso de San Juan.

In my community this festival is usually celebrated every year in honour of such a beloved character, but as a curious fact it is never held on the date stipulated for it, but for some reason or another it always takes place at a completely different time of the calendar, as can be seen this year at the end of August, the rumbling of the drums, the joy of the singing and the furor of the dance took by storm the field of my community, giving a great dose of culture to all the people, but at the same time remembering the greatness of that saint who started it all and who unknowingly transcended through time, and even managed to permeate in the Afro-descendant populations that today dance it with affection, faith and devotion.

En mi comunidad se suele celebrar cada año esta fiesta en honor a tan querido personaje, pero como dato curioso nunca se realiza en la fecha propia estipulada para ello, si no que por alguna u otra razón del destino siempre se lleva a cabo en un momento del calendario totalmente diferente, como se puede evidenciar en este año que a finales del mes de agosto, el retumbar de los tambores, la alegría del canto y del furor del baile tomaron por asalto la cancha de mi comunidad, regalándole una gran dosis de cultura a todo el pueblo, pero al mismo tiempo recordando la grandeza de aquel santo que lo inició todo y que sin saberlo trascendió a través del tiempo, e incluso logró permear en las poblaciones afrodescendientes que hoy en día lo bailan con cariño, fe y devoción.

Climate change is a reality that affects us all, as it generates serious distortions in environmental patterns, which undoubtedly interfere directly in our daily lives, disrupting our health and at the same time forcing us to constantly modify our life patterns. In recent days the temperature throughout the Venezuelan territory has risen considerably, in the city of Caracas we have had to endure thermometers at the height of 30 degrees and a much higher thermal sensation, so we are talking about an oppressive heat that negatively limits our daily performance.

La Ciudad Cubierta por la Neblina

El cambio climático es una realidad que nos afecta a todos, ya que genera graves distorsiones en los patrones ambientales, los cuales sin duda alguna interfieren de forma directa en nuestra cotidianidad, logrando trastocar nuestra salud y al mismo tiempo obligándonos a modificar de manera constante nuestros patrones de vida. En estos últimos días la temperatura en todo el territorio venezolano se ha elevado de forma considerable, en la ciudad de Caracas hemos tenido que soportar termómetros a la altura de los 30 grados y una sensación térmica mucho más elevada, con lo cual estamos hablando de un calor agobiante que limita de forma negativa nuestro rendimiento diario.

This is how Samuel, at 15 years of age, has taken his sporting career very seriously, therefore, he does not miss any training, he is open to all the recommendations made by the most experienced people and gives his best in every fight.

Desde muy niño mi primo, quien también es mi ahijado se ha interesado profundamente por el karate, un deporte que también practica su hermano mayor y el cual se caracteriza por ser una actividad en donde para conseguir la victoria se requiere mucha disciplina, gran concentración y una preparación continua. Es así como Samuel con sus 15 años de edad se ha tomado muy en serio su carrera deportiva, por lo tanto, no falta ningún entrenamiento, se mantiene abierto a todas las recomendaciones realizadas por las personas de más experiencia y da lo mejor de sí en cada combate.

Samuel le imprime al karate mucha pasión, gran esfuerzo y extrema dedicación, lo cual ya ha comenzado a dar grandes resultados, puesto que se ha presentado en varias competencias en donde siempre se trae alguna medalla, pero lo más increíble de todo es que ya es costumbre que las preseas obtenidas sean en su mayoría de oro y de plata, lo cual denota que su trabajo está teniendo grandes resultados y que medida de que pasa el tiempo se convierte en cada vez su mejor prospecto.

Yo siempre estaba atento para asistir a estas competencias, pero en la mayoría de los casos siempre me avisan con muy poco tiempo de antelación lo cual ha forzado mis ausencias, pero esta vez gerente, ya que por medio de un estado de WhatsApp publicado por el papá de Samuel me di cuenta de que se encontraban en medio de una nueva competencia, sin pensarlo dos veces pregunté en dónde era, me vestí y por medio de una aplicación soliciten taxi que me llevara directo hasta el gimnasio en donde se estaría realizando el evento. Es así como en tan solo 40 minutos puede llegar hasta ese mágico lugar, lleno con un gran orgullo, estaría para apoyar y hacerle barras a mi ahijado, quien también se contentaría mucho de verme allí.

In general terms my family loves Christmas, my parents love that joyful and vibrant spirit that comes with the decorations, lights and songs that fill with happiness every corner of the city, it is for this reason that it becomes common to take walks during the evening, to admire and enjoy the most magical scenery that we can imagine, It is in this way that at this point in January I took the opportunity to live with my dad to the Plaza Francia de Altamira, as this is a place that we did not have the opportunity to enjoy in the month of December and we wanted to admire its beauty before it was dismantled all the Christmas decorations.

En términos generales mi familia adora la Navidad, a mis padres les encanta ese espíritu alegre y vibrante que llega con los adornos, las luces y los cantos que llenan de felicidad cada rincón de la ciudad, es por esta razón que se vuelve común dar paseos durante el atardecer, para de esta manera admirar y disfrutar de los escenarios más mágicos que nos podamos imaginar, es de esta forma como a estas alturas del mes de enero aproveché de vivir con mi papá hasta la Plaza Francia de Altamira, ya que este es un lugar que no tuvimos la oportunidad de disfrutar en el mes de diciembre y queríamos admirar su belleza antes de que fuera desmantelada toda la decoración navideña.

Para esta oportunidad los espacios del Laguito ubicado en el círculo militar del Fuerte Tiuna fueron el escenario ideal para mostrarle al mundo una de las más interesantes muestras literarias que puedan existir, aquí las principales casas editoriales del país nos regalan una muestra en donde podemos divagar entre la política, la religión, la fantasía, el drama y el misterio, lo cual nos demuestra una vez más este tipo de eventos se convierte en el sitial ideal para el disfrute y el encuentro de la familia caraqueña, lo cual es realmente extraordinario, debido a que nos muestra el mágico universo de las letras desde un punto de vista más amigable e interesante.

Pilgrimage to the Holy Christ of La Grita

Every year the City of La Grita dresses up to receive hundreds of thousands of people who walk kilometers to reach the feet of the Santo Cristo del Rostro Sereno, an image carved in wood that for 413 years has filled with light and hope a people that fights against adversities and seeks to walk the path of development, love and solidarity. Every year thousands of pilgrims walk from the surrounding cities to the entrance of La Grita, place where the enormous Sanctuary of the Holy Christ is located, which is a space of modern characteristics which contemplates, a wide roofed square, green spaces, places to park a church and several administrative and service buildings, in total the enclosure has a capacity for more than 30 thousand people and is a very appropriate place for religious festivities.

Peregrinación al Santo Cristo de la Grita

Cada año la Ciudad de la Grita se viste de gala para recibir a cientos de miles de personas que caminan kilómetros hasta llegar a los pies del Santo Cristo del Rostro Sereno, una imagen tallada en madera que desde hace 413 años llena de luz y esperanza a un pueblo que lucha contra las adversidades y que busca surcar el sendero del desarrollo, el amor y la solidaridad. Cada año miles de peregrinos caminamos desde las ciudades circundantes hasta la entrada de la Grita, lugar en donde se encuentra en enorme Santuario del Santo Cristo, el cual es un espacio de características modernas el cual contempla, una amplia plaza techada, espacios verdes, lugares para estacionar una iglesia y varios edificios administrativos y de servicios, en total el recinto cuenta con capacidad para más de 30 mil personas y es un lugar muy apropiado para las festividades religiosas.

For several years every August 5 begins my walk towards La Grita, the idea is to arrive before midnight so I can enjoy the concerts, shows and the incredible fireworks presentation that for several minutes illuminates the Andean sky in honor of the Holy Christ, my route is always the same, starting in the city of La Fria located 48 km from La Grita and 127 m. s.n.m. to finish in the Sanctuary in the mentioned city of La Grita at 1.440 m.a.s.l. so it is a journey on the local road 3 that is characterized by its continuous elevations and depressions that are the result of a deeply mountainous landscape, where the cold, the rivers and a winding route are the constant.

Desde hace varios años cada 5 de agosto comienza mi caminata con dirección a la Grita, la idea es llegar antes de la medianoche para así poder disfrutar de los conciertos, los espectáculos y la increíble presentación de fuegos artificiales que por varios minutos ilumina el cielo andino en homenaje al Santo Cristo, mi ruta siempre suele ser la misma, comenzando en la Ciudad de La Fría ubicada a 48 km de la Grita y a 127 m.s.n.m. para finalizar en el Santuario en la mencionada ciudad de La Grita a 1.440 m.s.n.m. por lo tato se trata de un recorrido sobre la carretera local 3 que se caracteriza por sus continuas elevaciones y depresiones que son el resultado de un paisaje profundamente montañoso, en donde el frío, los ríos y una ruta serpenteante son la constante.

My walk would begin at 1:30 pm, I would be accompanied by my friend Yorgen, my friend Rosmary and Maria, her granddaughter, the four of us would undertake a march where we would have time to reflect, to talk and enjoy a journey that is long, but that is full of much emotion. At this point it is important to emphasize that most of the people who make this pilgrimage do it to pay a promise or in gratitude for a favor granted, which makes this activity an event where faith plays a fundamental role, on the other hand, for my part I do this adventure as a tourist activity, where I can enjoy beautiful landscapes, very friendly people and an extraordinary journey.

Mi andar comenzaría a la 01:30 pm, me acompañarían mi amigo Yorgen, Mi amiga Rosmary y María, su nieta, los cuatro emprenderíamos una marcha en donde tendríamos tiempo para reflexionar, para conversar y disfrutar de un recorrido que es largo, pero que se encuentra lleno de mucha emoción. En este punto es importante resaltar que la mayoría de las personas que hacen esta peregrinación lo realizan para pagar una promesa o en agradecimiento por algún favor concedido, lo cual hace de esta actividad un evento en donde la fe juega un papel fundamental, en cambio, por mi parte esta aventura la realizo como actividad turística, en donde puedo disfrutar de lindos paisajes, gente muy amable y un recorrido extraordinario.

It is here where we find the Church of Our Lady of Carmen, a temple built in 2002 and which stands out for its impeccable construction where all its exterior walls seem to be made of brown stone, also highlights its large bell tower which is square in style, consists of two levels and is separated from the church by a few meters, unfortunately the temple was closed, but still we took a few minutes to rest, admire its beautiful square and pray a little on our way.

Después de un par de horas de recorrido llegamos a la población de Las Mesas, se trata de un pequeño pueblo ubicado en el Municipio Antonio Rómulo Costa del Estado Táchira, a unos 472 m.s.n.m. y a unos 26 km de la Ciudad de la Grita, este es un lugar en donde al entrar por la calle principal podemos encontrar a numerosos puntos de hidratación, carpas de primeros auxilios y nos podemos percatar de la presencia de numerosos peregrinos que usan este espacio como punto de partida o de descanso en un camino que sigue siendo largo. Es aquí en donde encontramos a la Iglesia De Nuestra señora del Carmen, un templo levantado sobre el año 2002 y el cual se destaca por su impecable construcción en donde todas sus paredes exteriores parecieran estar elaboradas en piedra de color marrón, además se destaca su gran campanario el cual es de estilo cuadrado, consta de dos niveles y se encuentra separado de la iglesia por unos cuantos metros, desafortunadamente el templo se encontraba cerrado, pero de igual forma nos tomamos unos minutos para descansar, admirar su linda plaza y orar un poco por nuestro camino.

Al continuar el recorrido seguíamos por la carretera Local 3, un lugar por donde los transportes de carga circulan con regularidad, pero que en estos momentos no lo hacían con tanta frecuencia por la enorme cantidad de personas que se encontraban en ruta a la Grita, se trata de una carretera de dos canales, totalmente pavimentada y sobre la cual yo caminaría hasta llegar a mi destino, en esta peregrinación llama mucho la atención la presencia de muchas personas que colocan puestos de hidratación, puestos de comida y toldos donde se pueden conseguir frutas, todo esto de forma gratuita y con el único objetivo de ayudar al peregrino en su travesía a la Grita, se trata de muchos comerciantes y personas individuales cuya promesa es ayudar consiste en ayudar a aquellos que caminamos durante horas, lo cual me parece genial, ya que son esas manos solidarias las que hacen que este recorrido no sea tan complicado y se haga mucho más llevadero.

El Santo Cristo de la Grita es una imagen muy interesante, ya que se trata de un cristo de proporciones naturales clavado en la cruz que cuenta con un rostro sereno y tranquilo, el cual parece haber aceptado con amor su destino y se prepara para dar su vida por el bien y la salvación de toda la humanidad. Cuenta la historia que hace 413 años un 03 de febrero La Ciudad del Espíritu Santo de La Grita fue destruida por el Terremoto de San Blas, el dolor y el drama toco a todos los habitantes de este importante poblado, lo cual llevo a que Fray Francisco un monje católico hiciera la promesa de esculpir una imagen de Cristo que sirviera como apoyo y depositario de todas las rogativas que el pueblo de la Grita necesitaba hacer luego de tal calamidad, es de esta forma como poco a poco intentaba darle forma a la imagen, pero sus acciones no daban resultados positivos y el tiempo seguía corriendo y las personas necesitaban una imagen ante la cual expresar sus oraciones, es así como una noche el taller de carpintería se iluminó por completo, mientras que el sonido de las herramientas hicieron despertar al Fray quien al abrir la puerta quedaría impresionado con lo que estaría por ver, ya que se trataba de ángeles que con sus propias manos le habían dado forma al Cristo del Rostro Sereno que conocemos hoy en día.

Between stories, photographs, memories and a lot of emotion we approached the beautiful town of Seboruco, a town which several kilometers back we began to see over the mountains and that little by little we are approaching to its center, it is a magical place, purely Andean, about 12 km from La Grita and 1,080 meters above sea level. La verdad es una historia increíble, que adoro contar y escuchar, se trata de un relato que durante todo el recorrido me resuena en la mente y me ayuda a pensar en tantas cosas, me permite reflexionar y al mismo tiempo abre mi mente hacia lo enorme y misteriosa que es la vida que no ha tocado conocer. Entre historias, fotografías, recuerdos y mucha emoción nos acercamos a la linda ciudad de Seboruco, un poblado el cual varios kilómetros atrás comenzamos a ver sobre las montañas y que poco a poco nos vamos acercando hasta su centro, se trata de un lugar mágico, netamente andino, a unos 12 km de la Grita y a 1.080 m.s.n.m. este es un lugar en donde la neblina se hace presente, las montañas están mucho más cerca y en donde la imponencia del Río Grita comienza a ser el protagonista, pues se trata de un caudal que se caracteriza por su gran fuerza, ronco sonido y hermosos paisajes, en donde el agua seguramente muy fría discurre entre grandes montañas y se abre paso hacia tierras más bajas.

Seboruco es una ciudad pequeña, llena de lindas casa, muchas colinas y gente maravillosa, ya para este momento eran las 4:45 pm, lo que nos indicaba que estábamos a muy buena hora y, por lo tanto, decimos no detenernos acá, sino continuar con nuestro recorrido para de esta forma lograr aprovechar al máximo la mayor cantidad de luz natural y así poder seguir tomando muchas más fotografías y también para tener la oportunidad de llegar a la Grita en tiempo récord, lo cual nos permitiría acomodarnos de mejor manera y disfrutar al máximo del santuario.

We continued walking, by this point we could already see a road much more full of pilgrims, the sun was beginning to decline over the cloudy mountains of the west and fatigue was present in our bodies, but there was no other option but to continue on our route, slowing the pace was not allowed, therefore, we had to continue steadily to complete the few 8 or 9 kilometers that remained, that is how we faced the darkness of the night and with the help of flashlights and phones we were illuminated our journey, Little by little the road became wider and without realizing it we were in the sector called La Quinta, a place where several roads converge and where the pilgrims coming from different points of the state of Táchira found us in an atmosphere of satisfaction and joy, since this point marks the entrance of the city of La Grita, therefore, scarce 1 or 2 kilometers separate us from our final destination.

Seguíamos caminando, para este punto ya podíamos ver una carretera mucho más llena de peregrinos, ya el sol comenzaba a decaer sobre las montañas nubladas del oeste y el cansancio se hacía presente en nuestros cuerpos, pero no había otra opción sino seguir adelante en nuestra ruta, bajar el ritmo no estaba permitido, por lo tanto, debíamos seguir con paso firme para culminar los escasos 8 o 9 kilómetros que faltaban, es así como le hicimos frente a la oscuridad de la noche y con la ayuda de linternas y teléfonos íbamos alumbrado nuestro recorrido, poco a poco la carretera se hacía más ancha y sin darnos cuenta estábamos en el sector denominado La Quinta, un lugar en donde confluyen varias carreteras y en donde los peregrinos provenientes de diversos puntos del estado Táchira nos encontramos en un clima de satisfacción y alegría, ya que este punto marca la entrada de la ciudad de La Grita, por lo tanto, escasos 1 o 2 kilómetros nos separan de nuestro destino final.

Con paso firme, decidido y rápido seguíamos avanzando, ya se escuchaba el sonido de la tarima, se podían ver las luces de los reflectores en el cielo y en compañía de un mar de pueblo llegamos a la entrada del Santuario en la Ciudad de la Grita a 1.440 m.s.n.m este lugar marcaría el final del recorrido, lo cual me lleno de mucha satisfacción, ya que por un año más pude disfrutar a plenitud de esta experiencia, la cual sin duda alguna representa un logro físico, mental y moral. En este año 2023 más de 500 mil personas arribaron a la Grita, yo al llegar sobre las 08:00 pm lograría bajar mi récord personal a 6 horas y media de recorrido en 26 kilómetros tomando como punto de partida para la medición la población de las Mesas, lo cual me parece genial, ya que no pensé que este año fuera tan exitoso debido a la falta de entrenamiento físico.

We slept for a while on those stairs, then on a sidewalk and finally inside the church, and at about 05:00 am we stood in front of the holy Christ, we thanked him for having protected us along the way and with some nostalgia, but with the promise to return next year we said goodbye to an adventure that would remain forever in our memories and our hearts.

Dentro del santuario la temperatura rondaría los 9 grados, el frío era muy fuerte, pero la alegría por haber cumplido la meta hacía que nada importara, junto a mi amigo Yorgen disfrutamos de varias presentaciones artísticas, luego nos ubicamos cerca de una escalera y al sonido de las campanas de la media noche disfrutamos de unos espectaculares fuegos artificiales, los cuales con su color y estruendo llenaron de alergia a todos los que nos encontrábamos en ese lugar. Así se nos fue pasando la hora, dormimos un rato en esas escaleras, luego en una acera y por último dentro de la iglesia, ya sobre las 05:00 am nos paramos frente al santo Cristo, le dimos las gracias por habernos protegido durante el camino y con algo de nostalgia, pero con la promesa de volver el otro año nos despedimos de una aventura que quedaría por siempre guardada en nuestro recuerdo y nuestros corazones.

Gala of the Stars of Russian Ballet

The performing arts are one of my greatest passions, I usually enjoy theatrical performances, musicals and operas, but the experience becomes much more exciting when I take the time to take out my camera and capture images where the artists on stage transmit their best and deepest feelings. A few years ago on the stage of the Teresa Carreño Theater took place one of the most important presentations of recent times, fortunately I had the opportunity to witness this event and had an exceptional location within the hall, which gave me the opportunity to generate very good captures.

Gala de las Estrellas del Ballet Ruso

Las artes escénicas son una de mis mayores pasiones, suelo disfrutar al máximo de presentaciones teatrales, musicales y operas, pero la experiencia se hace mucho más emocionante cuando aprovecho el momento para sacar mi cámara y logro capturar imágenes en donde los artistas sobre el escenario transmiten sus mejores y más profundos sentimientos. Hace unos años sobre las tablas del Teatro Teresa Carreño se llevo a cabo una de las presentaciones más importantes de los últimos tiempos, afortunadamente tuve la oportunidad de presenciar dicho evento y contaba con una ubicación excepcional dentro de la sala, lo cual me brindo la oportunidad de generar muy buenas capturas.

Classical ballet, traditional dance and a touch of contemporary art was what could be appreciated in this show that was very well executed, but what most caught my attention is the ability of Russian artists to convey emotions and feelings, as they are not only capable of dominating the stage, but generate an environment full of magic, joy and very good energy.

Ballet clásico, danza tradicional y un toque de arte contemporáneo fue lo que se pudo apreciar en ese espectáculo que estuvo muy bien ejecutado, pero lo que más me llamo la atención es la capacidad de los artistas rusos de transmitir emociones y sentimientos, ya que no solo son capases de dominar el escenario, sino que generan un entorno cargado de magia, alegrías y muy buenas energías.

Taking pictures in a dark room, with people in motion and with a pocket camera is not an easy task, but it is precisely this kind of challenge that drives me to overcome adversity and go beyond my limits, it is a test that I assume with great emotion, optimism and with the certainty that the results will be very good. To combine more than one passion and live the experience to the fullest is something super exciting, because it leaves us with the satisfaction of having enjoyed to the fullest, it allows us to drain a lot of stress and at the same time gives us new knowledge.

Tomar fotografías en una sala oscura, con personas en movimiento y con una cámara de bolsillo no es tarea sencilla, pero es justamente ese tipo de retos los que me impulsan a vencer las adversidades he ir más allá de mi limites, es una prueba que asumo con mucha emoción, optimismo y con la certeza de que los resultados serán muy buenos. Conjugar más de una pasión y vivir la experiencia al máximo es algo super emocionante, ya que nos deja la satisfacción de haber disfrutado a plenitud, nos permite drenar mucho estrés y al mismo tiempo nos regala nuevos conocimientos.

En mi país la onda cultural es muy fuerte y llego a su punto cúspide con la presentación de esta gala, la cual dicto una catedra de perfección y belleza, espero que en los años por venir este tipo de eventos sean más recurrentes y que podamos ver sobre los escenarios a agrupaciones de todo el mundo, ya que cada nación cuenta con un estilo diferente y eso es lo que enriquece al arte escénico, porque el toque personal es un plus que le permite a la trama de la obra conectarse con sus espectadores.

Bolshoi, Alexandrov, Mikhailovsky y Mariinsky, fueron algunas de las compañías que se encargaron de alegrarnos aquella noche, son agrupaciones conocidas a nivel mundial y que se caracterizan por dejar una huella imborrable en la mente y el corazón de quienes tenemos la grandiosa oportunidad de disfrutar de ellas, por eso si en tu país algún día tienes la oportunidad de ir y ver una presentación de alguna de ellas no dudes en hacerlo, pues te aseguro que será un momento único y que podrás disfrutar en primera fila de una presentación elegante, de altura y conocerás un poco sobre lo interesante, linda y profunda que es la cultura rusa, la cual a veces por los vaivenes políticos no logramos observar, pero que cuenta con una riqueza muy amplia y con una calidez que pareciera impasable para un país que desde la distancia da la impresión de ser un lugar muy frio, pero que en realidad cuenta con un pueblo maravilloso.
