The village of Subbotino arose in the mid-19th century. At this place, on the Shush River, there was a mill of the peasant Subbotin; settlers from the Vyatka province settled near it in the early 50s of the 19th century, and the village was named after the miller.

The village is located on the very border of the steppe and taiga. Perhaps due to this location, the rural plantations produce the most delicious, largest and most abundant strawberries in the region. If the correct technology is followed, the berry tolerates transportation well and is transported hundreds of kilometers to Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Barnaul.

In the summer, almost all local residents are engaged in growing and picking strawberries, and at the end of June the village hosts a strawberry festival, which attracts guests from neighboring regions.

But this all happens in the summer. Now the village is quiet, as if it had plunged into winter hibernation. There are few people on the streets, only occasionally cars pass by. Frost of -20 degrees Celsius is not very conducive to long stays in the fresh air. Even the drone in the cold, in one short flight, almost completely drained the battery.

Of course, winter photographs are "monochromatic" and inferior in brightness to summer ones. I hope that in six months I will be able to imagine the summer view of the village of Subbotino and you will have something to compare the photos with))

Back in the steppe, about five kilometers from the coast, a gas torch has been burning for about thirty years. In the 60s of the last century, geologists found gas here, but the volumes were considered unprofitable and the well was mothballed. About thirty years ago there was a small earthquake, and the well opened up, and lightning or burning grass ignited the gas. So the gas torch burns in the steppe all year round. Local residents have surrounded the fire with stones and have picnics there.

This part of the city is being built up relatively recently.

At the beginning of the last century, this place was the site of the experimental gardens of one of the first gardeners in Siberia, Ivan Bedro. Exiled to Siberia for revolutionary activities in 1909, agronomist and gardener-breeder Ivan Bedro leased a plot of land on the left bank of the river and founded a fruit nursery, which later became the first fruit growing experimental station in Siberia. Having studied more than three hundred samples of various varieties of cultivated plants, including apple trees, sea buckthorn, apricots, cherries, barberries, plums and garden strawberries, Ivan Bedro developed ways to protect cultivated plants from the unfavorable conditions of the Siberian winter. Local gardeners still use his recommendations today. In the photo in the lower right corner you can see the house of Ivan Bedro, built at the beginning of the 20th century.

In the second half of the 20th century, there was a grain collection point on this site. The photo shows the preserved barns and elevator. The grain was brought to the receiving point by cars, here the grain was sorted and then the grain was sent down the river to the north by barges and ships.

In the last photo, on the river, a pier is visible just to the left of center. But the river has not been navigable for more than 30 years and the pier has lost its original purpose; there is now a cafe called “On the River”.

In 1957, a settlement of lumberjacks and loggers arose here. By the beginning of the 21st century, there were no forests suitable for felling in the area of the village. Now the residents of the village are mainly busy serving tourists: they organize rafting trips on the Oy River, transport cargo to hard-to-reach areas of the area, and serve as guides for tourist groups. For tourists who come for recreation and fishing, cottages have been built in the village.

The village itself is now increasingly acquiring the features of a holiday village. People from big cities, having once visited here, then purchase real estate and spend their holidays in the village, taking a break from the stress and bustle of the big city.

The village of Bolshaya Rechka is the place where all roads end; further you can only travel by all-terrain vehicle, on horseback or by boat along the river. Clean air, virgin taiga, fishing and hunting are what attract people to such places.

I have long wanted to go to this cemetery and photograph the ruins of the church, of course it would have looked more spectacular in the summer, but somehow there was not enough time.
All ruins, in my opinion, have a mystical magnetism, and the ruins of religious buildings doubly so.

This Saturday I went to those parts, just in case I took a drone with me. The air temperature was near zero, there was no wind, it’s just a pity that the sky was gray, and the ground was all covered in snow, but here we can only wait for spring.
Now a little about the temple itself. The church was built in 1866 on the territory allocated for the city cemetery. In April 1867, the temple was illuminated in the name of the Presentation of the Lord. Since the mid-1920s, the temple was closed several times, under the pretext of an emergency, and in 1937 it was closed completely. Previously, during my childhood, the temple had a roof, a metal door and shutters on the windows, but at the beginning of the 21st century there was a fire inside the building and for more than twenty years now, only the walls remained of the temple.

Winter has arrived in our area, and Tom the cat now spends most of the day indoors. The fun time is over when Tom the cat spent the whole day outside, chasing butterflies and communicating with other cats, and usually only ate and slept at home.

Now on the street, Tom the cat either walks sedately along the paths cleared of snow, or sits and watches people remove the snow. Tom the cat's tender tummy doesn't like being touched by cold snow.

The settlement was founded in the mid-90s of the last century in the remote Siberian taiga (one dirt road leads there, and the nearest village is about 20 kilometers away) by people tired of the bustle and stress of big cities. They have a rather strange worldview, by our standards, but they calmly accept people with views that do not coincide with theirs. Arriving travelers are led around the settlement by local guides, they tell the history of the settlement and show local attractions, and answer all the questions the listeners have.

The streets in the settlement are very romantic names: Lunar Flower Street, Silver Rodniki Street, Street Singing Mountains ... There are many sculptures and a thought out landscape design in the settlement. On clarity, several photos of the village from the ground:

On the mountain over the settlement there are a zone called the heavenly monastery, which includes the temple of arts and the main bell tower.

The drone flies to the main bell tower, near which a group of tourists is located, and the guide talks about the construction and purpose of bells.

If you go down from the settlement, then you get to the shore of Lake Tiberkul, this is the largest lake in the south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, translated from the language of Khakass, Tiberkuli means a heavenly lake.

Due to the fact that this place is quite far from cities and industrial enterprises, the nature around the settlement is practically pristine.

I must admit that the past week was not the best in the life of Tom the cat... but first things first...
In the spring of 2020, my wife picked up a stray ginger kitten; he was then about three months old. He was very affectionate and smart, but he had one drawback - Tom the cat asked to go for a walk and tried to sneak out into the street. We didn’t dare let the cat into the courtyard of a multi-story building and began to take him for a walk outside the city. In the summer, they began to leave the cat in the village with his grandfather for the day; the cat walks around the garden and vegetable garden, sometimes runs along the street, eats and sleeps in the house. But in the evening he leaves the house, sits at the gate and waits for them to come for him. This has been going on for more than three years.

Last Monday, when I came to pick up Tom the cat, he hobbled towards me on three legs. It was already late evening, the veterinary salons were already closed and we went home.

At home, Tom the cat immediately went to the chair and went to bed.

On Tuesday morning, my cat Tom and I went to the veterinary hospital. The doctor examined Tom's paw and wrote out a referral for an x-ray (he suspected that the cat might have a fracture of the carpal bone of his left paw).
We took pictures of the left paw in two projections, although Tom the cat was very indignant and demanded freedom. Fortunately, there was no fracture, apparently Tom the cat had bruised his paw somewhere or pressed it with something, but the veterinarian gave the cat an injection and advised him to limit the cat’s movements and see him on Thursday.

Tom the cat spent the rest of Tuesday and Wednesday at home. By Wednesday evening he was no longer limping, but he was meowing loudly and offendedly and demanding a walk.

On Thursday, the doctor examined Tom's cat and said that everything was fine with him. We went with Tom the cat to the nearest park and the cat, who had been sitting at home for a long time, flew up like a bird onto a birch tree.

On Friday, life improved for Tom the cat; in the morning he went to the village and walked all day, despite the snow and freezing temperatures. Tom the cat had such a difficult week.

Tom Cat already realized that the whole area was covered with snow. Now the cat will have to walk mainly along cleared paths, otherwise the cat will fall into the snow up to the cat’s tender belly.

But despite the fact that there is snow, cold and winter ahead, Tom the cat believes that spring will come soon and it will be possible to have fun again in the blooming garden.
