Step into the enchanting atmosphere of the historic Festa dell’Uva in Conegliano, nestled among the UNESCO-listed Prosecco Hills, with this unforgettable performance by the French duo Parasol.

Recorded in September 2014, this live set features Gérard Godon and Catherine Grimault weaving a delicate musical dialogue—where the warm, expressive tones of the accordion meet the lyrical grace of the violin.

On the ancient eastern entrance to the city, along Via Beato Ongaro, stands the historic Porta Leone.On its outward-facing façade, two historically significant coats of arms are clearly visible: on the left, the emblem of the city of Conegliano; on the right, the coat of arms of the Podestà Alvise Loredan, dated 1530—the year the portal was most likely created.

At the center rises the majestic winged Lion of Saint Mark, symbol of the Venetian Republic. This fresco is attributed to Giovanni Antonio De Sacchis, known as Il Pordenone, one of the masters of the Renaissance.

The restoration project has successfully consolidated the frescoed surfaces, removed grime and surface degradation, and restored the legibility of the iconographic details—including both coats of arms and the Lion—returning the monument to its former splendor and reaffirming its role as a historic and artistic landmark at the city’s entrance.

Conegliano - Restauro della Porta Leone

Sull’antico ingresso est della città, in via Beato Ongaro, si erge la storica Porta Leone. Sulla facciata che accoglie i visitatori, si distinguono chiaramente due stemmi di grande rilevanza storica: a sinistra lo stemma della città di Conegliano, a destra lo stemma del Podestà Alvise Loredan 1530, anno in cui venne probabilmente realizzata.

Al centro, svetta maestoso il Leone alato di San Marco, emblema della Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia, dipinto con grande vigore espressivo. L’affresco di Giovanni Antonio De Sacchis, noto come il Pordenone, uno dei più originali interpreti del Rinascimento veneto .

L’intervento di restauro ha permesso di consolidare le superfici affrescate, rimuovere incrostazioni e alterazioni superficiali, e ripristinare la leggibilità iconografica degli stemmi e del Leone, restituendo al monumento il suo antico splendore e riaffermando il suo ruolo di simbolo storico e artistico all’ingresso della città.

In questo suggestivo concerto, Tamara Soldan interpreta “Amor mi fa cantar”, una composizione anonima tratta dal Codice Rossi del XIV secolo – uno dei più importanti manoscritti musicali del Medioevo italiano.

Accompagnandosi con la viella strumento ad arco tipico dell’epoca, Tamara ci guida in un viaggio sonoro attraverso i canti e le storie del Medioevo, in un luogo dal fascino storico e spirituale.

Il brano fa parte del programma “A Chantar!”, dedicato alla riscoperta del repertorio vocale e strumentale medievale, con un’attenzione particolare al rapporto tra testo poetico e melodia.
La viella è uno strumento a corde strofinate in uso in Europa dal XII al XV secolo, antenato del violino moderno.

In this evocative performance, Tamara Soldan sings “Amor mi fa cantar”—an anonymous 14th-century song from the Rossi Codex, one of the most significant sources of medieval Italian secular music.

Accompanying herself on the vielle (a bowed string instrument widely used throughout the Middle Ages), Tamara brings to life the poetic and musical world of the medieval era in the intimate setting of a historic chapel.

This piece is part of the concert program “A Chantar!”, dedicated to rediscovering medieval vocal and instrumental repertoire, with a special focus on the interplay between poetry and melody.

🎻 The vielle is a bowed string instrument popular in Europe from the 12th to the 15th centuries and is considered a forerunner of the modern violin.
