Hello, dear Hive Open Mic community!

In this week 266 dedicated to Mothers I chose to perform "Carteras Chinas ”, a song that I loved since the first time I heard it. Camilo and Elena Rose, are my two favorite latin artists, as soon as they announced the collaboration I was very happy.

Aside from being a good cumbia jsjsjs what I liked the most was the lyrics. Although at first glance it may seem like a romantic song, I found in it a message about true love, the one that is not faked or replaced. Phrases like "there are more Chinese wallets than people who love with their hearts, but Pa' eso estamos tú y yo ” made me think of a mother's love: an authentic, unadorned, unconditional love that doesn't wear out over time.

In verses like "you make me get up early just to look at you ‘ or ’if the whole world was like you, everything would light up ”, I saw reflected the affection, the dedication and the light that a mother represents in our lives. It is those small gestures, that constant presence, that make mothers irreplaceable.

That is why I decided to dedicate this song to them, to all those women who love with their hearts, who are "at the edge of the sea ” with us for life. This is my way of thanking them, honoring them and celebrating their existence with music.

¡Hola, querida comunidad de Hive Open Mic!

En esta semana 266 dedicada a las Madres elegí interpretar “Carteras Chinas”, una canción que me gustó muchísimo desde la primera vez que la escuché. Camilo y Elena Rose, son mis dos artistas latinos favoritos, apenas anunciaron las colaboración me puse muy feliz.

Aparte de ser una buena cumbia jsjsjs lo que más me gustó fue la letra. Aunque a primera vista puede parecer una canción romántica, yo encontré en ella un mensaje sobre el amor verdadero, ese que no se finge ni se reemplaza. Frases como “hay más carteras chinas que gente que ama con el corazón, pero Pa’ eso estamos tú y yo” me hicieron pensar en el amor de una madre: un amor auténtico, sin adornos, sin condiciones, que no se desgasta con el tiempo.

En versos como “me haces madrugar solo pa’ mirarte” o “si todo el mundo fuera como tú, se iluminaría todo”, vi reflejado el cariño, la entrega y la luz que representa una madre en nuestras vidas. Son esos pequeños gestos, esa presencia constante, los que hacen de las madres algo irremplazable.

Por eso decidí dedicar esta canción a ellas, a todas esas mujeres que aman con el corazón, que están “a la orilla del mar” con nosotros para toda la vida. Esta es mi forma de agradecerles, de honrarlas y de celebrar su existencia con música.

Today I'm dropping by to tell you about a very particular experience that happened to me recently. It turns out that my laptop where I record, compose, study and produce music, decided to shut down without warning and wouldn't charge. I had to take it to the technician, and while they were checking it I couldn't just wait and looked for an alternative to continue working. Because this is more than a hobby, it's my job and stopping was not an option.

That's how I ended up trying BandLab, a free app to record and produce from the mobile. I had used it before, but I had never given it a real chance with an interface. To my surprise, it worked better than I expected, I was sure that like me there were other people who would be very interested to know about this and that's why I decided to share it with you.

In this post I want to tell you a little bit about this App and how you can connect to record guitars, compose and study.

What is BandLab?

BandLab is an app that allows you to record your musical ideas, add effects and create complete songs without the need for expensive equipment or being in front of a computer. You can do it all from your mobile (phone or iPad), which makes it perfect for recording whenever and wherever you want.

It has tools like multitrack recording, effects, loops, virtual instruments, and an active community where you can publish your music or collaborate with other artists.

What do you need to connect your guitar to your phone or iPad?

Here are the basics you need to get started:

iRig (or other compatible) audio interface: This small interface is compact, easy to use, and works without external power.

Guitar cable (1/4“ plug to 1/4” plug) : The same one you normally use to connect your guitar to your amp.

In-ears or wired headphones: Very important for real-time monitoring without latency. Bluetooth headphones are not recommended because they tend to have delay.

My experience using BandLab as a guitarist

The first step was to connect my iRig interface to the iPad. BandLab recognized it without any problems, and within minutes I was recording. I used my electric guitar and tried various effects such as chorus, overdrives and amp emulations. The audio quality was excellent for working from a tablet.

I also tried recording acoustic guitars alone with the iPad's microphone, and although it's obviously not the same, I found it great for recording quick ideas.

In addition to recording ideas, you also have the option to grab some drum loops and bass lines to build a base that you can improvise or write on, it also gives you access to built-in midi instruments and there's no need to connect more gear.

What is good and what can be improved

Good:

Quick to set up
Decent audio quality with interface
Accessible creative tools
Super handy, ideal for recording on the go, away from home.

What could be improved:

Some advanced features are missing from the mobile app
There can be some latency without interface, or if you use adapter or wireless headphones (the latter is a bit logical😅)
More accurate editing would be better on larger screen

Hoy paso por aquí para contarles una experiencia bastante particular que me pasó hace poco. ¿Qué es BandLab?

BandLab es una app que te permite grabar tus ideas musicales, agregar efectos y crear canciones completas sin necesidad de un equipo caro o de estar frente a una computadora. Puedes hacerlo todo desde tu móvil (teléfono o iPad), lo que hace que sea perfecta para grabar cuando y donde quieras.

Tiene herramientas como grabación multipista, efectos, loops, instrumentos virtuales, y una comunidad activa donde puedes publicar tu música o colaborar con otros artistas.

¿Qué necesitas para conectar tu guitarra a tu teléfono o iPad?

Aquí te dejo lo básico que necesitas para empezar:

Interfaz de audio iRig (u otra compatible): Esta pequeña interfaz es compacta, fácil de usar y funciona sin necesidad de alimentación externa.
Cable de guitarra (plug a plug de 1/4”): El mismo que usas normalmente para conectar tu guitarra al amplificador.
In-ears o audífonos con cable: Muy importante para monitorear en tiempo real sin latencia. Los audífonos Bluetooth no son recomendables porque suelen tener retardo.

Mi experiencia utilizando BandLab como guitarrista

El primer paso fue conectar mi interfaz iRig al iPad. BandLab la reconoció sin problemas, y en cuestión de minutos ya estaba grabando. Usé mi guitarra eléctrica y probé varios efectos como chorus, overdrives y emulaciones de amplificadores. La calidad de audio fue excelente para estar trabajando desde una tablet.

También probé grabar guitarras acústicas solo con el micrófono del iPad, y aunque obviamente no es lo mismo, me pareció súper para registrar ideas rápidas.

Además de grabar ideas, también tienes la opción de tomar algunos loops de batería y líneas de bajo para construir una base sobre la que puedas improvisar o escribir, también te da acceso a instrumentos midi integrados y no hay necesidad de conectar más equipos.

Lo bueno y lo mejorable

Lo bueno:
• Rápido de configurar
• Calidad de audio decente con interfaz
• Herramientas creativas accesibles
• Súper practico, ideal para grabar en movimiento, fuera de casa

Lo mejorable:
• Algunas funciones avanzadas faltan en la app móvil
• Puede haber algo de latencia sin interfaz, o si utilizas adaptador o audífonos inalámbricos (esto último es un poco lógico😅)
• Edición más precisa sería mejor en pantalla grande

I want to share with you an experience that marked a turning point for me. I had the honor of being on stage with the incredible Liz, one of the most important merengue artists in Venezuela, at a live show in Maturín.

Being able to play alongside Liz was a dream come true. Since I was little, I’ve listened to her music, as it’s pretty common in Latin families to play merengue playlists at gatherings and get up to dance, haha. I’ve always had a special connection to merengue, and taking it to my instrument is one of my favorite things to do.

This is my first time participating in this community and I’m very excited to share with other talented musicians, I want to offer a virtual applause to all the musicians who participate week after week, and make a special invitation to my friends @mariag.Lucena @polotronic @michelleortega @paoladigirolamo to join.

In a very special week in which we reflect on love, faith and sacrifice, I wanted to pay a small tribute with a song that has accompanied me for years: “Solo en Ti” by Evan Craft. (I had a little confusion in the intro😅)

Since I was a little girl this song has been very meaningful to me. It connects me to that moment of stillness and trust that is only found in the presence of God. It has powerful lyrics that remind me that in the midst of any difficulty, He is my refuge and my peace. That's why I felt it was perfect for this week, where we commemorate the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

Performing it with my voice and guitar was a very beautiful moment, one of those moments when you sing more with your soul than with your technique. I hope you can feel a little bit of that emotion through the video.

Thanks to all of you who make it possible for artists from all over the world to share our passions and connect through music. This community really is a special place, and it's an honor to be a part of it - that's what makes music powerful! A bridge between cultures, languages and hearts.

Interpretarla con mi voz y mi guitarra fue un momento muy bonito, de esos en los que uno canta más con el alma que con la técnica. Espero que puedan sentir un poquito de esa emoción a través del video.

Gracias a todos los que hacen posible que artistas de todo el mundo podamos compartir nuestras pasiones y conectar a través de la música. Esta comunidad realmente es un lugar especial, y es un honor formar parte de ella. ¡Eso es lo que hace poderosa a la música! Un puente entre culturas, idiomas y corazones.

Alfonsina was not only a gifted poet, but also a pioneer in addressing topics that were taboo in her time.

Despite her literary success, Alfonsina's personal life was full of difficulties. Alfonsina went to the sea and threw herself from a breakwater. Her body was found the following day, floating in the waters in front of La Perla beach.

The creation of “Alfonsina Y El Mar”.

It happens in 1969, within the framework of the conceptual album “Mujeres Argentinas”, a project that gathered some women of the artistic milieu, among them Mercedes Sosa, main interpreter. The album sought to pay tribute to several women who had left an indelible mark on Argentine history. Among them, the figure of Storni stood out for her tragic and poetic life.

The song had to capture the essence of her life and death, in a delicate balance between the sweetness of her poetry and the bitterness of her end. Luna was in charge of transforming Storni's last moments into verses that, with Ramírez's music, acquired a strong emotional dimension.

Talking about what you feel is essential, but not everyone will know how to help you and it is important that you know it, I know it is difficult to keep calm, but it is necessary to try to be as kind as possible to yourself, to begin to listen to yourself and learn to embrace and accept yourself. Me contenta estar nuevamente por acá, en esta oportunidad tocando una canción de la legendaria banda Guns N´Roses. Yo solía tocar mucho esta canción de pequeña, me gustaba ponerme retos y fue de las primeras canciones que toque completas, espero de verdad les guste!

Knocking on heaven´s door es una canción compuesta por el gran Bob Dylan, escrita para la banda sonora de la película Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid de 1973. Lanzada como sencillo dos meses después del estreno de la película, se convirtió en un éxito mundial, llegando al Top 10 en varios países. Y por supuesto a raíz de eso algunas bandas y/o artistas reconocidos la versionaron en su momento.

Entres estas versiones esta la de la histórica banda Guns N´Roses, que en particular es mi favorita, Slash, su guitarrista solista era de mis favoritos para entonces, aprendí varios de sus solos y eso me ayudó mucho a crecer, a dominar ciertas técnicas, a pulirlas cada vez más y a reconocer mucho más rápido notas en el mástil, ritmos, y otras cosas más.

I´m Andrea Morales from user andreaguitarart I am happy to be with you once again, what you are about to see is something really different from what I have been doing on the platform, you have already seen me playing guitar, others singing, also playing drums, showing you a little of my passion for music, but this time is different.

Honestly I don't speak English very well, this is a translation, but I would like to take this as a personal challenge, and speak to you both English and Spanish, sorry for the mistakes.

Ok, as you can see in the title I want to tell you a little bit about my experience in vibes music competition, for those who don't know vibes is a contest where people from different parts of the world prepare a video showing their talent, upload it to X, Instagram or tik tok following some rules, and participate to win prizes in HBD or dollars. This competition takes place in the vibes community, which is made up of super talented musicians and artistic people, one of the things I like to share in vibes are the people who are here with the best willingness to add, to make good music, all super focused on doing a good job and enjoy it to the fullest, above rivalries and competition, after all no one is better than anyone else, and that's what music is all about.

The feedback I have received here I have not received in any other platform, sometimes I upload my videos with a little shame or fear of receiving criticism because it is not perfect, my performance is not perfect nor am I the most in tune singer or with the best technique, I tend to be very self demanding with myself, but being here has shown me that this is about enjoying what we love to do, strive to do it better and better, and be rewarded for it.

And the reward can be represented in several ways, socially you have people who share your same passion who are there to remind you that you are doing well and that you can do better with some of their advice, if you are very consistent it becomes a habit to record yourself playing or singing and that helps you a lot to improve, in turn you are building a website where there are records of all your work and progress in music, is a really free space to create and if not little is rewarded financially.

Recently I was fortunate enough to make it into the top 10 and win 6th place, and receive a reward of 100 HBD, for the second time, and I want to tell you a little bit about what this meant in my growth as a musician.

if you follow me for a long time you will remember my participation of week 5, where I played a guitar solo on the song eye of the tiger, in this opportunity I played with an ibanez guitar, that a friend lent me, and it is really symbolic because I always wanted to have a guitar like this but I had not had the opportunity to buy one.

My friend lent it to me for a few days and I took the opportunity to record a few videos for the platform, this week I was able to win and thanks to this I was able to buy some accessories that I needed for my guitar, cables, cases, protectors, it helped me with some daily expenses, completely a blessing.

A few weeks after participating once or another time I managed to be in the top 10, fortunately I was in 6th place and I received my prize, I was really happy because I felt that with that I would have the opportunity to buy the ibanez guitar that I wanted so much, my friend had his for sale, and it was the perfect moment, and yeah...

I buy a semi professional guitar with the vibes prize🎸

it's an ibanez RG220B with floyd rose, 25 fret two humbuckers pickups, and a super power for solos and rocking out.

Por acá les habla Andrea Morales de usuario andreaguitarart Estoy feliz de estar una vez mas con ustedes, lo que están por ver es algo realmente diferente a lo que he venido haciendo en la plataforma, ya me han visto tocando guitarra, otros cantando, también tocando batería, mostrándoles un poco de mi pasión por la música, pero esta vez es distinto.

Honestamente no hablo muy bien inglés, pero me gustaría tomar esto como un reto personal, y hablarles tanto inglés como español y acá les voy dejando los subtítulos, disculpen los errores.

Ok, cómo podrán ver en el titulo quiero hablarles un poco de mi experiencia en vibes music competition, para quienes no sepan vibes es un concurso donde personas de diversas partes del mundo preparan un video mostrando su talento, lo suben a X, Instagram o tik tok siguiendo algunas normas, y participan para ganar premios en HBD o dólares. Esta competencia se lleva a cabo en la comunidad de vibes, quien esta conformada por músicos y personas del medio artístico súper talentosas, una de las cosas que me gusta de compartir en vibes son las personas que están acá con la mejor disposición de sumar, de hacer buena música, todos súper enfocados en hacer un buen trabajo y disfrutarlo al máximo, por encima de rivalidades y competencia, al fin y al cabo nadie es mejor que nadie, y de eso se trata la música.

La retroalimentación que he recibido acá no la he recibido en ninguna otra plataforma, aveces subo mis videos con un poco pena o miedo a recibir críticas ya que no es Perfecto, mi ejecución no es perfecta ni soy la cantante más afinada ni con la mejor técnica, suelo ser muy autoexigente conmigo misma, pero estar acá me ha demostrado que esto se trata de disfrutar lo que amamos hacer, esforzarte por hacerlo cada vez mejor, y ser recompensado por ello

Y la recompensa puede verse representada de varias maneras, socialmente tienes a personas que comparten tú misma pasión que están ahí para recordarte que lo estás haciendo bien y que puedes hacerlo mejor con algunos de sus consejos, si eres muy constante se vuelve un hábito grabarte tocando o cantando y eso te ayuda muchísimo a mejorar, a su vez estás armando un sitio web donde hay registros de todos tus trabajos y avances en la música, es un espacio realmente libre para crear y si no fuese poco se ve recompensando económicamente.

Recientemente por fortuna pude entrar en el top 10 y así poder ganar en 6to lugar, y recibir una recompensa de 100 HBD, por segunda vez, y quiero hablarles un poco de lo que significó esto en mi crecimiento como músico

Si me sigues de hace tiempo recordaras mi participación de la semana 5, donde toque un solo de guitarra sobre la canción eye of the tiger, en esta oportunidad toque con guitarra ibanez, que un amigo me presto, y es realmente simbólico ya que siempre quise tener una guitarra así pero no había tenido la oportunidad de poder comprar una.

Mi amigo me la presta por algunos días y yo aproveche de grabar unos cuantos videos para la plataforma, esta semana pude ganar y gracias a ello pude comprar algunos accesorios que necesitaba para mi guitarra, cables, estuches, protectores, me ayudo con algunos gastos diarios, completamente una bendición.

Unas semanas después de participar una que otra vez logre estar en el top 10, por fortuna quede en 6to lugar y recibí mi premio, realmente estaba muy feliz porque sentí que con eso tendría la oportunidad de comprar la guitarra ibanez que tanto quería, mi amigo tenia la suya en venta, y fue el momento perfecto, y así es amigos...

Esta es mi participación para la semana #17 de Vibes, en esta semana decidí conservar un poco la autenticidad y naturalidad en cada nota que doy, grabe audio y video en simultáneo en una sola toma, la primera, sin cortes, sin edición de audio ni video, este tono que logré lo hice mediante mi pedal multiefectos Valeton GP100, ¡Cuanta practicidad!, sin duda algunas de las mejores compras que he hecho en el año (Si algún guitarrista acá esta buscando un pedal práctico, que no pese mucho, no ocupe tanto espacio, a su vez sea económico, y lo más importante, te permita lograr un sonido profesional, lo recomiendo en su totalidad).

Espero de verdad les guste tanto como a mi, en serio disfruto muchísimo tocar esta canción, ¡¡que sabroso el merengueeeeeee!!

Me contenta mostrarles un contenido un poco diferente a lo que estoy acostumbrada a mostrarles por acá, hace unos dias asistí a un concierto donde al finalizar hicieron una jam session e invitaron a músicos increíbles de mi ciudad, compartimos y pasamos un rato muy agradable. Acá les dejo un poco de lo que fue mi improvisación en la guitarra.

Fue una noche realmente especial para mi, tenia un tiempo largo sin compartir con músicos de mi ciudad ya que me fui a vivir a Caracas, y en un muy corto periodo que estuve un rato en mi ciudad coincidió con esta gran reunion de tantos músicos que he admirado de hace años, por fortuna muchos de ellos son mis amigos y me han ayudado a crecer en mi camino en la música.

Esta es mi participación para la semana #16 de Vibes, donde el tema es ¨Roots¨, como muchos acá sabemos se trata de echar un vistazo hacia atrás y mostrar un poco de esa primera canción que nos cambio la vida de alguna manera, que nos introdujo ya sea al mundo de la ejecución de algún instrumento, o una primera composición.

Cuando comencé a tocar guitarra AC/DC era de mis bandas favoritas, y Angus young, el guitarrista de esta banda, de mis mayores referentes, con 10 años de edad aprendi mi primer solo de guitarra, el solo de ¨Highway to hell¨. Actualmente toco esta canción con mi banda, llamada MEGANOVA, una banda de solo chicas que hacemos rock, pronto les mostraré mas sobre este proyecto🖤

Me siento muy agradecida con la comunidad de VIBES por darnos la oportunidad de poder mostrar acá nuestro talento, compartir con otros músicos excepcionales que semana tras semana van formando parte de esto.

Esta es mi participación para la semana #13 de Vibes, la canción se llama OUT OF THE BLACK, de la banda Royal Blood, una canción que formo parte de mi crecimiento como musico multi-instrumentista, hace unos años atras me encontraba con mi profe de bateria buscando subir de nivel, amabamos esta cancion y nos pareció buena opción, luego al llegar a casa la sacaba en guitarra y disfrutaba tocarla en los dos instrumentos.

Me contenta estar de nuevo por acá y poder mostrarles y hablarles sobre todas las cositas que he venido haciendo, han sido días largos, algunos muy buenos, algunos estresantes y difíciles, estar lejos de mi familia ha sido un proceso difícil pero por otra parte satisfactorio de que estoy trabajando en lo que me gusta, acercándome cada vez mas a ser completamente independiente.

Por si aún no conocen sobre mi, los invito a ver mi introduce, allí les conté un poco de a que me dedico y en que trabajo artísticamente, actualmente me encuentro en plena mudanza hacia Caracas, la capital de mi país, soy de Barquisimeto (la cual le llaman la ciudad musical de Venezuela) que queda a casi 5 h de la capital, aquí me encuentro buscando mas oportunidades como músico y artista integral, por los momentos viajo constantemente entre Barquisimeto - Caracas ya que aun no cuento con un lugar fijo e independiente en la capital, pero espero poder lograrlo pronto.

En una de estas idas a mi ciudad compartí con algunos musicos quienes me invitaron a grabar guitarras para un tributo a Shakira. Debido a algún uno que otro bajón de luz y apagones que hubo unas horas antes en el estudio (Venezuelan moment jajaj) la compu y el programa no estaban ayudando mucho jsjaja y mientras esperabamos que esto se estabilizara compartimos e improvisamos algunas cositas, tocamos de todo un poco y grabamos algunas de las ideas que surgieron en el momento.

Acá les comparto el usuario de instagram de mis compañeros para que chequeen su trabajo increíble como músicos y más, en la guitarra acústica estuvo @lquinterofoto, en el bajo @orianagarcia.08, y en el tambor @gustavomendozamusica y esto fue un poco de lo que hicimos espero de verdad les guste!

I’m happy to be here again and to be able to show you and talk about all the little things I have been doing, it has been long days, some very good, some stressful and difficult, being away from my family has been a difficult process but on the other hand satisfactory that I am working on what I like, getting closer and closer to being completely independent.

In case you still don't know about me, I invite you to see my introduction, there I told you a little of what I do and what I work on artistically, I am currently moving to Caracas, the capital of my country, I am from Barquisimeto (which is called the musical city of Venezuela) which is almost 5 hours away from the capital, here I am looking for more opportunities as a musician and integral artist, at the moment I travel constantly between Barquisimeto - Caracas since I still don't have a fixed and independent place in the capital, but I hope to be able to achieve it soon.

In one of these trips to my city I shared with some musicians who invited me to record guitars for a tribute to Shakira. Due to some power outages that happened a few hours before in the studio (Venezuelan moment haha) the computer and the program were not helping much hahah and while we were waiting for this to stabilize we shared and improvised some things, we played a little bit of everything and recorded some of the ideas that came up at the time.
