Desde que empecé a tocar la batería, siempre he admirado la energía y la complejidad de la música de System of a Down. "Chop Suey" es una de esas canciones que siempre me ha inspirado.

El proceso de aprendizaje fue una montaña rusa de emociones. Desde el principio, me di cuenta de que esta canción no sería fácil de dominar. Los rápidos golpes de bombo, los fills complicados y los cambios de ritmo repentinos me mantuvieron en constante alerta. Pero cada vez que tocaba la canción, sentía una oleada de emoción y satisfacción. Cada pequeño avance me acercaba más a dominar la canción por completo.

Una de las partes más divertidas de este proyecto fue filmar el video de la cubierta. Reuní a algunos amigos músicos y encontramos un lugar genial para filmar. La energía en la sala era palpable mientras tocábamos la canción una y otra vez, tratando de capturar la esencia de la original mientras le dábamos nuestro propio toque personal.

Ever since I started playing the drums, I've always admired the energy and complexity of System of a Down's music. "Chop Suey" is one of those songs that has always inspired me.

The learning process was a rollercoaster of emotions. Right from the start, I realized that this song wouldn't be easy to master. The rapid kick drum beats, intricate fills, and sudden rhythm changes kept me on my toes. But every time I played the song, I felt a surge of excitement and satisfaction. Every little breakthrough brought me closer to mastering the song completely.

One of the most fun parts of this project was filming the cover video. I gathered some musician friends and found a cool location to shoot. The energy in the room was palpable as we played the song over and over, trying to capture the essence of the original while adding our own personal touch.

Este es mi primer cover de batería en la plataforma. Busqué una pista sin batería para realizarlo. Me hubiera gustado que tuviera un tempo para encajar mejor en los tiempos, sin embargo, me gustó el resultado. La batería siempre ha sido un instrumento que me ha gustado, pero mis padres nunca me compraron una debido al ruido y volumen. Sin embargo, mi papá, para no dejarme con ese sueño frustrado, me permitió tomar clases de batería, donde aprendí lo básico para defenderme. This is my first drum cover on the platform. I searched for a track without drums to perform it. I would have liked it to have a tempo to fit better into the timing; however, I liked the result. The drums have always been an instrument I've enjoyed, but my parents never bought me one due to the noise and volume. Nevertheless, my dad, to not leave me with that frustrated dream, allowed me to take drum lessons, where I learned the basics to get by. Years later, with a lot of effort, I bought this electronic drum set to make my tracks and have fun.

Last year, in mid-October, I had the pleasure of participating in the Euro-Venezuelan Jazz Festival. At first, I was very nervous because I'm not an expert in jazz and I only had two months to prepare.

El proceso creativo comenzó con una planificación seguida por la fase de grabación. Mi objetivo era dotar a la canción de un estilo funk, lo que implicó una investigación sobre la creación de líneas de bajo y batería características de este género musical. Aunque tenía ideas para los coros vocales, decidí no incluirlos debido a mi falta de conocimiento en edición de audio. Reconozco que todavía tengo mucho por aprender en cuanto a edición de audio. Finalizada la etapa de grabación, procedí con la edición del video, disfrutando cada paso del proceso creativo. La temática del video gira en torno al sentimiento de terminar una relación y reflexionar sobre los momentos vividos. En muchas ocasiones, nos encontramos en un estado de nostalgia hasta que poco a poco comenzamos a recuperarnos y podemos ver las cosas desde una perspectiva más clara.

Tuve la suerte de contar con la ayuda de mi hermano y mi novia; les encantó el resultado, pero ¿qué opinan ustedes? Quisiera saber su opinión, es muy valiosa para mí, ya que solo así crece el verdadero artista.

My goal was to imbue the song with a funk style, which involved research on creating bass and drum lines characteristic of this musical genre. Although I had ideas for vocal choruses, I decided not to include them due to my lack of knowledge in audio editing. I acknowledge that I still have much to learn regarding audio editing. After completing the recording stage, I proceeded with video editing, enjoying every step of the creative process. The theme of the video revolves around the feeling of ending a relationship and reflecting on the moments lived. Often, we find ourselves in a state of nostalgia until gradually we begin to recover, and we can see things from a clearer perspective.
