El carnaval ya finalizó, ayer domingo fue su último día. Dicen que Tenerife tiene los mejores carnavales del mundo, y creo que podría ser así, aunque debería conocer de primera mano los de otras partes del mundo para verificarlo. En este desfile hicieron su aparición personajes como Darth Vader, Cantinflas, Jack Sparrow, e inclusive Donald Trump y Javier Milei.

Venezuela tuvo su representación en este desfile con su propia reina y una comparsa o carroza. Fue una experienca agradable y amena haber apreciado estos carnavales y en especial este desfile reailzado el día 13 de febrero. Gracias por visitar mi canal de 3Speak, y ¡Nos vemos en un próximo video!

Las vistas del mirador de Gordejuela, ubicado a la mitad del sendero, son impresionantes. Sin embargo, lo que en un principio era una pequeña desviación para conocer el Fortín San Fernando se transformó en una visita épica. Justo al inicio del sendero, se puede encontrar una serie de caminos muy pintorescos, algunos de los cuales llegan al fortín y diversos puntos desde donde se puede ver desde lo alto la pequeña playa ubicad abajo.

La Playa de Castro no se encontraba en mi ruta planeada. En un principio, esta playa no despertó mi interés, precisamente porque en mi "mentalidad Caribeña" pensé que por su arena oscura sería una "playa fea" que no vale la pena visitar. Generalmente en el Mar Caribe, mientras más clara sea la arena de una playa mejor es, pero esto no necesariamente se cumple en todas las partes del mundo.

Mientras más miraba abajo y veia como las personas disfrutaban de esta pequeña y acojedora playa, más deseaba hacer el esfuerzo de bajar las largas escaleras que llegan hasta ella. Y valió la pena, ya que estar allí es una experienca única, tal como en todas las playas de arena negra de Tenerife. Luego de estar allí poco más de una hora, me dispuse ahora sí a realizar el sendero de Rambla de Castro, desde donde pude realizar grabaciones de las Ruinas de Gordejuela con la Playa de Castro al fondo, y, en el medio, otra playa de arena negra llamada Playa de La Fajana, a la cual se puede llegar desde Playa de Castro en marea baja o desde un camino que deriva de la red de senderos del lugar.

If you are from the Caribbean Sea, like me, you may find it strange to see a beach with dark sand. And you may also feel little interest in approaching such a beach, as I initially did. My visit to Rambla de Castro, earlier this summer, was originally focused on walking the trail in the protected area of the site, which runs next to the ruins of the old Gordejuela water elevator.

The views from the Gordejuela overlook, located halfway along the trail, are breathtaking. However, what was originally a small detour to see Fortín San Fernando turned into an epic visit. Right at the beginning of the trail, you can find a series of very picturesque paths, some of which reach the fort and several points from where you can see the small beach below.

Castro Beach was not on my planned route. At first, this beach did not arouse my interest, precisely because in my "Caribbean mentality" I thought that because of its dark sand, it would be an "ugly beach" not worth visiting. Generally in the Caribbean Sea, the lighter the sand of a beach the better it is, but this is not necessarily true everywhere in the world.

The more I looked down and saw how people were enjoying this small and cozy beach, the more I wanted to make an effort to go down the long stairs that led to it. And it was worth it, as being there is a unique experience, just like all the black sand beaches of Tenerife. After being there for a little more than an hour, I set out now to do the Rambla de Castro trail, from where I could make recordings of the Gordejuela Ruins with Playa de Castro in the background, and, in the middle, another black sand beach called Playa de La Fajana, which can be reached from Playa de Castro at low tide or from a path that derives from the network of trails of the place.

Habíamos llegado hasta una zona llamada Bocacangrejo, cuyo tramo del sendero se encontraba restringido debido posiblemente a riesgo de colapso. No es casualidad que en aquel lugar hayamos encontrado un cangrejo rojo posando ante la cámara en una enorme roca. Este video inicia allí, en donde tuvimos que retroceder unos metros hasta llegar a un desvío de tierra que reconecta con el camino de piedra más adelante.

Estos paisajes marítimos son bastante inhóspitos, salvajes y duros si los comparamos con la típica playa de arena suave y clara. Sin embargo, muchas personas se pueden ver disfrutando de un baño en este lugar, especialmente al final del recorrido, en donde justamente se ubica la Playa de Rojas, la cual por sus espectaculares vistas hace valer la pena el esfuerzo de llegar hasta allí.

It is possible to find very spectacular seascapes without the presence of sand. Costa de El Sauzal offers a promenade that ends at one of the most picturesque and unique beaches in Tenerife and I think in the world: Playa de Rojas. In the previous video, we explored the eastern part of the coast of El Sauzal, going down the Las Breñas path until we reached the rocky point that juts out into the sea.

We had reached an area called Bocacangrejo, whose section of the trail was restricted, possibly due to the risk of collapse. It is no coincidence that in that place we found a red crab posing for the camera on a huge rock. This video starts there, where we had to backtrack a few meters until we reached a dirt detour that reconnects with the stone path ahead.

These seascapes are quite inhospitable, wild, and harsh compared to the typical soft, clear sandy beach. However, many people can be seen enjoying a swim in this place, especially at the end of the route, where Rojas Beach is located, which for its spectacular views makes it worth the effort to get there.

El sendero más inclinado que he tenido la oportunidad de recorrer se encuentra en la costa norte de Tenerife. El Sauzal es uno de los municipios de la isla, el cual le da nombre a su área costera, aislada del resto de la geografía por un barranco de 200 metros de altura: Costa de El Sauzal.

Esta zona costera ofrece un paseo marítimo lleno de vistas impresionantes y salvajes, en donde el océano y las rocas comparten escenario. Aquí no hay arena. Se trata de una zona donde frecuentan los famosos charcos de agua salada y ensenadas de agua relativamente tranquila que permite el nado.

También, es una zona muy calurosa en verano, por lo que si algún día planeas visitarla, más vale anticipar el intenso calor que puede llegar a hacer a partir del mediodía, tomando en cuenta que la única forma de salir caminando del lugar es subiendo de vuelta el escarpado barranco de 200 metros, con muy poca sombra. Al otro extremo del paseo marítimo, hay una vía de acceso para los que poseen coche, que también sube por el barranco.

Hay muchas cosas interesantes en Costa de El Sauzal, desde cuevas hasta miradores que ofrecen vistas espectaculares. Una de las playas más vistosas de Canarias y España se encuentra en Tenerife. La Playa Benijo posee paisajes surrealistas, en un entorno remoto de la naturaleza al norte de la isla. Se trata de una playa salvaje, o mejor dicho, relativamente virgen. Llegar a ella no es tan sencillo, por lo que no goza de un turismo masivo. He visitado esta playa para disfrutar de sus paisajes y compartir con ustedes un video más de mi serie "Explorando Tenerife", en esta ocasión, visitando Benijo, una remota playa con vistas que parecen salidas de un episodio de Juego de Tronos.

Algunas vistas de la playa y las montañas me recuerdan también a los paisajes del famoso anime Dragon Ball. Cuando digo que se trata de una playa salvaje, me refiero a una playa relativamente peligrosa para el baño. Durante mi visita, vi algunas personas que se metían solo a unos pocos metros en el agua. Aunque las olas no suelen ser tan grandes o fuertes al llegar a la arena, se le debe tener respeto y cuidado al mar sobre todo en un lugar tan remoto. Han pasado ya varios meses desde que pisé tierra en Venezuela, y estando aquí en otras tierras he podido reflexionar y apreciar aún más las bellezas de nuestro país, las cuales tuve la fortuna de conocer, o al menos algunas de ellas. Actualmente, me encuentro en una isla que se puede recorrer de un extremo a otro en menos de 2 o 3 horas, la cual posee una buena cantidad de paisajes maravillosos en toda su extensión. Es por ello que el gran tamaño de Venezuela, sumado a otros factores, hacen que sea más difícil poder disfrutar de una visita al Salto Ángel o de las hermosas playas de Mochima.

Ahora, me encuentro en Tenerife, una isla muy especial con fuertes conexiones con Venezuela y Latinoamérica, y aunque no es mi país natal, se parece mucho. Este viaje ha sido la oportunidad de explorar nuevas tierras, y poder ver desde otra perspectiva el mundo. Al final del video les muestro un par de tomas en las escaleras de acceso a la Playa Benijo, una hermosa playa exótica y remota, ubicada casi en lo más al norte de la isla, detrás de las montañas de Anaga. This trip has been the opportunity to explore new lands and to see the world from another perspective. At the end of the video I show you a couple of shots of the access stairs to Playa Benijo, a beautiful exotic and remote beach located almost at the island's northernmost point, behind the Anaga Mountains. El Parque Rural de Anaga es la zona predilecta para montañismo en el norte de la isla. Es una extensa zona de bosques ubicados sobre las montañas del macizo de Anaga. Es el equivalente al Ävila en Caracas, sólo que de menor elevación sobre el nivel del mar, ya que se encuentra al norte de la ciudad capital de la isla, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. En este video de 3Speak, recorremos y exploramos el Sendero de Los Sentidos, una ruta que puedes realizar en menos de 45 minutos.

El Sendero de Los Sentidos destaca por su facilidad, cosa que lo hace ideal para familias e incluso niños, aunque personalmente no lo recomendaría para niños muy pequeños. Es un sendero circular, por lo cual el inicio y el final coinciden, aunque más bien podría decirse que tiene forma de "8", ya que en un punto se cruzan los caminos. No posee únicamente una posibilidad de ruta sino que posee 3 trazados. El trazado corto, ideal para personas en silla de ruedas por su camino de madera, comprende la pasarela de Cortafuegos. El segundo trazado es un poco más largo que el primero, llega hasta otro puente pasarela justo antes del cruce. Y el trazado total lo comprende todo.

La longitud total de este sendero es de alrededor de Kilómetro y medio. Posee a mitad de su recorrido un hermoso mirador que te brinda una espectacular vista del valle de Tahodio y la Presa de agua que se encuentra allí. En el fondo de esta vista se puede apreciar el mar, justo en la zona de Muelle Norte de Santa Cruz. Justo en la zona donde puedes encontrar este mirador, hay una especie de cruce de 4 caminos. Debo decir que la señalización en este cruce de caminos no es muy clara que digamos, ya que podrías pensar que sigues el sendero pero en realidad te estás dirigiendo hacia otra zona que cruza la carretera. Así que si alguna vez caminas por este sendero y llegas a una carretera, da vuelta atrás unos 100 metros ya que por ahi no es. Este sendero no cruza ninguna carretera.

Otro aspecto que le da a este sendero una característica muy especial es su vegetación y árboles. Se trata de una zona cuya vegetación data de hace mucho tiempo, ya que ha estado aislada del resto del mundo continental. Los bosques de Laurisilva caracterizan este sendero, dándole un toque fresco y misterioso. De hecho, se dice que los dinosaurios se alimentaban de los árboles de Laurisilva ¿¡Interesante, no!?

Hiking is one of the most popular activities in Tenerife. There are trails all over the island, and I would like to know them all. But, let's take it step by step, and the first route I wanted to do here in Spain was on a trail well known for its ease and short travel time. The last hiking route I did was nothing more and nothing less than in Venezuela, on the outskirts of the city of Maracay (Pozo del Diablo). The Parque Rural de Anaga is the favorite area for mountaineering in the north of the island. It is an extensive area of forests located on the mountains of the Anaga massif. It is the equivalent of the Ävila in Caracas, only with a lower elevation above sea level, since it is located north of the capital city of the island, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. In this 3Speak video, we walk and explore the Sendero de Los Sentidos, a route you can do in less than 45 minutes.

The second route is a little longer than the first one, reaching another footbridge just before the crossing. And the total route includes all of it.

The total length of this trail is about one and a half kilometers. It has a beautiful viewpoint in the middle of its route that gives you a spectacular view of the Tahodio Valley and the water dam that is located there. In the background of this view, you can see the sea, right in the area of Muelle Norte de Santa Cruz. Right in the area where you can find this viewpoint, there is a kind of 4-way crossing. I must say that the signage at this crossroads is not very clear, as you might think you are following the trail but in reality, you are heading towards another area that crosses the road. So if you ever walk this trail and come to a road, turn back about 100 meters as that is not the way to go. This trail does not cross any roads.

Another aspect that gives this trail a very special characteristic is its vegetation and trees. This is an area whose vegetation dates back a long time, as it has been isolated from the rest of the continental world. The Laurisilva forests characterize this trail, giving it a fresh and mysterious touch. In fact, it is said that dinosaurs fed on Laurisilva trees. Interesting, isn't it?

Luego de ver el primer gato en Tenerife, empecé a verlos con mucha más frecuencia. A penas tenía la oportunidad, grababa o tomaba fotos del encuentro con el felino. La mayoría de ellos huía, mientras que solo unos pocos se dejaron tocar. En un principio, no tenía la intención de grabarlos para crear un video para mi vlog de 3Speak, pero al poco tiempo de hacerlo, surgió la idea de crear un video recopilatorio de los encuentros con gatos que he tenido aquí en Tenerife.

Los gatos aquí no son muy diferentes a los de Venezuela. La mayor diferencia quizás es el hecho de que muchos de ellos están bien alimentados y gordos. Hablando de ello, creo que el protagonsimo en este video se lo llevan dos gatos en particular. Un enorme gato gris y otro enorme gato negro, son los que más segundos se roban en este video.

It was rare for me not to see a single cat for so many days in a row.

However, once I saw the first cat on the streets, things changed. On this island, it is very rare to see animals on the streets. To this day, I have not seen the first stray dog here in Spain. With cats, it is a bit different, as we all know how independent and versatile they can be to survive. Although they are not frequent either, you can find many of them in punctual places, especially in neighborhoods or residential buildings with green areas, where they know they can live and be fed by the neighbors.

After seeing the first cat in Tenerife, I started to see them much more frequently. Whenever I had the opportunity, I would record or take pictures of the encounter with the feline. Most of them ran away, while only a few of them let themselves be touched. At first, I didn't intend to record them to create a video for my 3Speak vlog, but soon after I did, the idea came up to create a compilation video of the cat encounters I've had here in Tenerife.

The cats here are not very different from those in Venezuela. The most significant difference perhaps is the fact that many of them are well-fed and fat. Speaking of which, I think the highlight in this video goes to two cats in particular. A huge gray cat and another huge black cat steal the most seconds in this video.

Primero, visitaremos un busto conmemorativo ubicado en el Mirador de La Paz. Ya antes había compartido con ustedes una publicación en donde mostraba unas fotos de la ciudad de Puerto de La Cruz desde este mirador: Meet Puerto de la Cruz from Viewpoint La Paz🔭 | Tenerife📸🌍🇮🇨 [ESP-ENG]. Es un lugar muy hermoso con una impresionante vista, lo cual lo hace el lugar perfecto para un monumento especial.

Muy cerca de allí, a menos de 5 minutos de caminata, nos encontramos con la Calle de Agatha Christie. Es una calle corta pero muy resplandeciente denido a su suelo blanco. No es una calle vehicular sino puramente peatonal, y además conecta con un hermoso paseo que transcurre paralelo al mar y por encima de él, brindando más hermosas vistas y algunas sorpresas.

Finalmente, pude ver con mis propios ojos las escaleras pintadas con diversos títulos de obras de Agatha Christie. Este era el principal objetivo de este video, ya que es lo que más se ve al buscar en internet imágenes sobre Agatha Christie y Tenerife. A pesar de que es el homenaje más grande o más notorio, me fue más difícil encontrarlo. El Camisón es una playa que es más pequeña que la de Las Teresitas, y más pequeña que sus dos playas vecinas: Playa de las Vistas y Playa de Los Cristianos. En realidad, si observas el Google Maps podrás notar que existe una muy pequeña playa llamada "La Carnada" ubicada entre El Camisón y Las Vistas. También, otra cosa que podrás notar en la imagen satelital es el color de la arena.

Algo que la diferencia de sus dos vecinas de arena más "grisácea" es su arena más clara y dorada. Esto le da un toque más "caribeño". Estas playas son de las más populares del sur de la isla, y El Camisón destaca por ser más tranquila y pequeña. No sé exactamente a qué se debe esta diferencia de color, pero quizás se deba a la procedencia de la arena de la cuál están hechas.

Es una playa en la cual puedes pasar un rato agradable, sobre todo en familia. Posee en sus laterales rompeolas que rodean la playa casi por completo, dando un pequeño espacio de entrada a las olas del mar abierto. Esto hace que el oleaje sea bastante tranquilo. Quizás el aspecto más negativo de esta playa sea que para llegar a ella se deba caminar más respecto a sus dos vecinas playas, sobre todo si llegas primero a la zona de Los Cristianos proveniente del Norte.

Otra cosa que esta playa posee y no sus vecinas es una buena cantidad de palmeras y sombrillas con asientos que se pueden tomar o alquilar. Debo decir que aquí en Tenerife la oferta gastronómica no es muy parecida que digamos a la de Venezuela, pero la gastronomía como tal sí. Es decir, aquí no se ve mucho el típico "negocio de empanadas" o "kiosko de empanadas" tal como lo encontrarías en Venezuela. Las empanadas las puedes encontrar en diversos sitios, pero no como el plato principal sino como uno de los tantos platos que puedes encontrar, junto a las arepas, las pulguitas, el bocadillo, y algunos otros "platos ligeros" canarios, que quizás les muestre en otra publicación.

En esta parte del mundo, son muy abundantes los bares, en los cuales puedes encontrar diversos platos y bebidas típicas. Sin embargo, en Venezuela no son muy frecuentes los bares, sino que más bien se tiende a separar la licorería del restaurant. Pero esto es otro tema. Lo que sí puedes encontrar en Tenerife es un sitio muy especial llamado El Mercado de La Recova, o Mercado Nuestra Señora de África, en el cual puedes encontrar comida de diferentes cuturas del mundo, incluyendo, por supuesto, de Latinoamérica. Puedes encontrar desde carne argentiona hasta comida mexicana.

Solía ser una playa de arena negra hasta los años 70'. En aquel entonces, se transformó en una playa más grande y con arenas de color claro. En el sur de la isla, hay playas naturales de arena clara. En el norte predominan las de arena negra. En un próximo video de Explorando Tenerife, podríamos visitar alguna playa de arena negra, lo cual es algo totalmente nuevo para mi.

Toda mi vida he estado acostumbrado a las playas del mar caribe, en Venezuela. Si bien en Venezuela nunca llegué a visitar playas de Margarita y de Puerto La Cruz, mi experiencia en los Cayos del Parque Nacional Morrocoy y en otras playas de Aragua y de La Guaira, me daban un punto de comparación previo a visitar alguna playa de España. Y la verdad es que Las Teresitas es una playa muy buena que se equipara muy bien con las de mi país. Sin embargo, en mi opinión, hay un aspecto en el que las playas del Mar Caribe superan a esta ¿Qué será? Vamos a comentarlo a continuación.

Las Islas Canarias se encuentran en el Océano Atlántico, es decir, estamos hablando de algo mucho más grande que un mar. Por lo tanto, el viento que llega es más fuerte, y más frío. Podría decirse que Hive me ha convertido en una especie de "periodista," siempre preparado para grabar y capturar cualquier cosa que pueda servir para mi blog. Estos carnavales no son para menos. Son los segundos en importancia en Tenerife, siendo los primeros los de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, la capital de la isla. Los mejores del mundo son los de Rio de Janeiro en Brasil, pero dicen que los segundos son los de Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Personalmente, me pareció ver un desfile muy vistoso, colorido y bien elaborado. Lo pueden apreciar en el video de 3Speak que comparto en este post.

Desde hacía un buen tiempo que no sentía cierta alegría en el ambiente en un evento público. Llegué a Tenerife hace poco, y en Venezuela desde hace mucho años que no asistía a eventos públicos de este tipo. Ya que no estaba programada esta visita a los carnavales, no tenía un guión preparado ni nada por el estilo para este video. Soy relativamente nuevo acá, por lo que aún no conozco del todo las tradiciones y fechas más importantes de la cultura canaria.

Por otro lado, el sur de Tenerife es un lugar con una "personalidad" propia, diferenciada del Norte (Puerto de la Cruz) y de la capital Santa Cruz, más hacia el Este. El sur es un lugar más árido, donde el sol es un poco más fuerte y el entorno urbano es altamente turístico. Es lo más parecido al Caribe que puedes encontrar en la isla de Tenerife, con playas de arena clara. El MUNA es un sitio que quiero visitar con mayor profundidad en un futuro próximo, y por supuesto llevárselo a ustedes en mi canal de 3Speak. Se trata de un museo dedicado a la historia humana y local de Tenerife. Me gustan estos temas desde que soy niño, especialmente la arqueología.

En este video, mi visita por el Museo fue bastante breve, debido a que, principalmente, la entrada al museo no es gratis, por lo que como ya mencioné, más adelante lo conoceré a mayor profundidad. La entrada no es muy cara que digamos, es bastante económica en comparación a otros sitios de Tenerife, por lo que pronto pienso ir a grabar para mi canal de 3Speak.

El TEA, el espacio de las artes, ocupa un mayor espacio de tiempo en este video. Es un sitio de entrada libre, en donde podemos encontrar exposiciones y salas inspiradas en el arte de diversos artistas. Por algunos momentos me recordó un poco a algunos sitios de la Universidad Central de Venezuela por algunas de sus obras artísticas. Tiene algunas salas decoradas de maneras muy curiosas, y otras con exposiciones audiovisuales realmente geniales, en donde puedes ver un video acompañado de un audio que puedes escuchar tomando unos audífonos (tienen audífonos en varios idiomas).

También se puede encontrar una pequeña biblioteca y una gran sala donde puedes sentarte con una portátil a trabajar tranquilamente. También me pareció curioso que en dicha sala puedes encontrar discos de música y películas que puedes tomar libremente. Justo al lado, hay una cafetería.

También, pude conseguirme con algo muy especial. Se trata de una especie de folleto donde se muestra una obra escrita de la agrupación argentina Les Luthiers. A lo largo de uno de los recorridos con salas de exposiciones, puedes encontrar algunos folletos referentes a artistas y grupos famosos del mundo artístico. Fue un gran agrado para mi ver que allí se encontraba uno haciendo referencia a esta gran agrupación argentina de música, teatro y humor.

Lamentablemente (para mí), este folleto de Les Luthiers no era para llevar sino solo para exhibición. Definitivamente, creo que volvería al TEA para grabar algún otro video o tomar fotos para mi blog de Hive, o, también, para estudiar o trabajar en una computadora en su sala-biblioteca. Es un espacio muy acogedor y agradable.

We continue in our exploration of Tenerife, and as a continuation of the previous video, now I want to show you a bit of what we can find in the Museum of Nature and Archaeology (MUNA) and the Tenerife Arts Space (TEA).

The MUNA is a site that I want to visit in more depth in the near future, and of course bring it to you on my 3Speak channel. It is a museum dedicated to the human and local history of Tenerife. I've loved these subjects since I was a kid, especially archaeology.

In this video, my visit through the museum was quite brief, mainly due to the fact that the entrance to the museum is not free, so as I mentioned, I will get to know it in more depth later on. The entrance is not very expensive, it is quite cheap compared to other places in Tenerife, so soon I plan to go to record for my 3Speak channel.

The TEA, the space for the arts, takes up more time in this video. It is a free entrance site, where we can find exhibitions and rooms inspired by the art of various artists. For some moments it reminded me a little bit of some places of the Central University of Venezuela because of some of its artistic works. It has some rooms decorated in very curious ways, and others with really cool audiovisual exhibitions, where you can watch a video accompanied by an audio that you can listen to using headphones (they have headphones in several languages).

You can also find a small library and a large room where you can sit with a laptop to work quietly. I also found it curious that in this room you can find music and movie discs that you can take freely. Right next door, there is a cafeteria.

Also, I was able to get my hands on something very special. It is a kind of booklet where you can find a work of the Argentinean group Les Luthiers. Along one of the tours with exhibition halls, you can find some pamphlets referring to famous artists and groups of the artistic world. It was a great pleasure for me to see that there was one referring to this great Argentine group of music, theater and humor.

Unfortunately (for me), this Les Luthiers pamphlet was not to take away but only for display. I definitely think I would go back to the TEA to shoot another video or take pictures for my Hive blog, or, also, to study or work on a computer in their library room. It is a very cozy and pleasant space.
